My point was more that the people you seemingly dismiss as the "vocal minority" are in actuality closer to 100% of the people who actually care about the game in any significant way, particularly when your stated purpose for the change is to facilitate Tournaments, which are literally the highest level play you can get. The nerf ONLY affected that 1%, so saying that 99% of people weren't affected is meaningless. It just felt like a way to marginalize us in the same way people do with those holding really extreme political ideologies. Throughout this process, that just annoyed me a little, that's all.
In short, we're really the only people this affected, which is precisely why it's silly to cast us as some kind of vocal minority. We were the overwhelming majority of people affected. It doesn't matter if 99% percent of the people were unaffected if almost 100% of those who are are affected extremely negatively.
I don't want to sound ungrateful and overly negative, because as I've said before it would been easy for Harmonix to just ignore the issue entirely. I guess I was just rubbed the wrong way by your invocation of the people in this thread as some kind of outlying minority group.I'm not sure what else you're hoping for. An admission of guilt? 10 weeks of Blitz time back that you didn't enjoy during Tournaments? We've rebalanced Flame notes specifically in reaction to the feedback in this thread. We won't be able to do that all the time, but in this instance we were able to and we're glad that the majority of people are pleased with the change.
Of course I don't expect a formal apology, but like MaximusDM said, it seems a little patronizing to basically say "OK, even though a ton of people who barely play the game didn't suddenly develop a nuanced understanding of the mechanical underpinnings and start complaining, we're going to placate you whining 1% by putting things back the way they were." It would be nice, at the very least, to have at least some kind of acknowledgment that our arguments here were valid. Instead, the tone seems to be "we admit no mistake on our part, but you're annoying us with your yelling so here take this bone and be happy."
At the end of the day, it's mostly water under the bridge at this point, and I do again thank you for making the change happen. And you have established yourself as someone credible who deserves a great deal of the benefit of the doubt with regard to interactions with users. I just feel like certain aspects of your discussion of the rationale and reasoning could be a little more diplomatic than marginalizing us as the "vocal minority." While that label may be technically accurate, it isn't functionally equivalent to the way that phrase is used in other contexts.
