You know, this is actually exactly what I suggested doing for on disc songs to receive pro upgrades(back when that may have still been possible). Neat to see the idea actually works.

Excited to see what next year will bring.

As for who gets the pack(s)...

Looking back through when blitz would have been being developed(let's say May 2011 they MAY have been looking at tracks) to the present and the dlc that came out in the span, we had releases from(# of songs in ()):

    Foo Fighters(4)- 5/10/11
    Avenged Sevenfold(2)- 6/14/11
    Maroon 5(3)- 6/21/11
    Soundgarden(6)- 7/19/11
    Fall Out Boy(3)- 8/16/11
    Red Hot Chili Peppers(8)- 8/30/11
    Blink-182(3)- 10/11/11
    Queen(9)- 12/6/11
    Tear for Fears(1)- 1/31/12
    Shinedown(3)- 3/27/12
    P!nk(4)- 4/17/12
    Iron Maiden(6)- 5/22/12
    The All-American Rejects(1)- 7/3/12
    Foster the People(2)- 7/24/12
    Elton John(2)- 12/18/12
    My Chemical Romance(2)- 12/25/12

Artists that had dlc prior to that time frame are:

    Barenaked Ladies- 12/23/08
    Kelly Clarkson- 11/24/09

Artists that have never had dlc are:

    Collective Soul
    Fun.(already released without a pack)
    Great White
    Kool & The Gang
    Living Colour
    Quiet Riot
    Rick Springfield

Now it's possible they licensed new stuff from the artists on the first list, but I'll go on the assumption that they didn't(most likely if they did would be Foo Fighters, Avenged Sevenfold, Maroon 5, Soundgarden, and Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Looking at what's left, I'd say most likely would be Kelly Clarkson from the second list and Collective Soul from the third, with an outside chance for Kool & The Gang to get a pack and Quiet Riot possibly being released with a second song(you know the one). So the potential packs would be:

    Kelly Clarkson 01
    Since U Been Gone
    Mister Know it All
    Stronger

    Collective Soul 01
    Shine w/pro upgrade
    December
    The World I Know

I would love a Collective Soul pack and not care for a Kelly Clarkson pack(Kool & The Gang would be alright). I'll also go out on a limb and guess next week is the Kelly Clarkson pack without an upgrade.

I think the choice to roll out the Blitz content slowly is important. Lets say they decided to release the Elton John and MCR packs as usual but release the rest of Blitz as well with the MCR pack then people on the wall about buying Blitz would go straight for the individual DLC. Then they find out about the tournaments and miss out on winning awesome prizes as they don't want to rebuy content. Afterwards, HMX finds that there are very few people participating in the tournaments and the winner is always the same so it's cancelled.
    Wishlist (possible artists):
    [4] The Killers
    [1] The Cure
    [7] AFI
    [3] Sum 41
    [11] Linkin Park
    [51] Green Day
    [9] The Offspring

The DLC has been a joke since they started doubling the Blitz tracks.

Haven't been super stoked on the DLC lately, but Andrew WK will be fun. And it comes early too!
AsianSteev: if you can read this, put more Ska songs on the RBN! Please?

Also some of you people seem to forget that the RBN is not something HMX is running and doesn't have the same resources or influence to even get huge artists most of the time. The fact that some big names like Steve Vai, Evanecence, Mastadon, Eifel65 and those 80's hit artists are on the platform at all is pretty amazing. Trust me, if I had the possibility to do so I would have gotten Muse on the RBN, but thing is that is just impossible to do.

Also the whole point of the RBN is to allow lesser known artists to have a chance to get their songs into the game that HMX would never pick up as official DLC and to create a big market with a lot of choice for the customers between the big hits on official and underground and niche stuff with the occasional big name guest star on RBN.

I think the reason so many Metal artists get onto the RBN is a mix between the bigger authoring groups getting exclusive deals with record labels and want to make as much out of it as possible and that a lot of up and coming Metal bands have a hard time getting promotion and RBN working very well for that.
