    Newcomer with 2 important questions....

I have never owned a music game before in my life (unless you wanna count DDR on the dreamcast using the d-pad not an actual mat to stand on lol).

So I've looked everywhere in town but i cant find any RB3 anywhere or any instruments. Should I just wait for the next Rock Band whenever the hell thats supposed to come out or what?

Also, whats with the lack of KISS songs? It's my favorite band and I understand why they can't just add like all their albums but come on. I youtubed the songs and they don't even sound the same as the live or album versions. How come this game keeps getting updated with songs that aren't necessarily bad, but have nothing to do with rock n roll when theres barely any KISS songs?

I created this account like 5 minutes ago just to see if anyone can understand and maybe answer some of my questions. Thanks for reading.

Also, I play on Xbox in case anyone is wondering which platform.

RB3 is sold on the xbox live market.

The instruments can be a pain to find, look on amazon, ebay, etc.

If KISS isn't much in the game it's probably because of the label.

Could you expand on your last sentence a bit more?

Music licensing is a complex and difficult process. For a song to be in the game, all parties that own legal rights to it (which can on occasion be a staggering number of people) must be in agreement. And suitable masters must be available - Rock Band doesn't just rip a song off a CD, the master tapes have to be up to a certain snuff to be usable. It's why certain songs have only ever come as live versions or as studio re-records from years after the song first became famous.

I actually think Alternity is probably wrong in the case of a band as big as Kiss. I would have to believe they own the rights to all their songs themselves (though it gets thorny if you're talking about older songs with members who aren't part of the group anymore). Lesser artists and bands are sometimes restricted by their labels not wanting to be a part of music gaming.

There's a truism we trot out on this forum (and welcome, BTW) -- "Music licensing is hard." Because that's really all it boils down to. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.

It's highly unlikely there's ever going to be another RB game, so you're best off getting it off GOD. Instruments, ehh. You're gonna take a bath on those no matter how you do it. Many players prefer Guitar Hero guitars to the Rock Band-branded controllers (I'm certainly one), but they're getting to be just as scarce and expensive.

Thanks for the info. I just really wish I could play all of my favorite songs but it seems that it's more complicated than that How come there isn't going to be another RB game?

It's simply not a smart business decision. It's quite likely that even further downloadable content will stop being supplied (save for Rock Band Network songs on Xbox) in the next few months. Harmonix simply have plumper cash cows to move on to. They are, after all, a business. Persons who previously worked on Rock Band-related things will (if they've not already) be assigned to different projects.

Just a note, there are stacks of peripherals (guitars etc) available in the UK on ebay etc. You can pick up a used Rockband Fender for around £20. I recently purchased a Mustang pro guitar for just £35! Not sure how much shipping would be for US but i regularly import stuff from US and its never that expensive so could be an option if you guys are finding sourcing instruments a problem. They also sell the pro keyboards here now for £17 !!

Yes, and if you had noticed, the OP plays on Xbox. I would also call compatibility into question.

Wii instruments are the only ones which are both easy to find and cheap. Xbox is the hardest to find and most expensive.

Gee, wonder if there's a reason for that
