Loving the new DIIV track
Haven't listened to much this year yet, but so far, Inter Arma's album Sky Burial is probably the first great album of the year for me. Was blown away by it. Went into it expecting some run-of-the mill posty sludge metal, but got superb posty sludge metal along with some 70's rock influences and a whole host of other sounds. Really cool album.
holy crap. somehow missed the news that The National is releasing new album this year. color me excited
New Depeche Mode is pretty good, although a bit unusual at points. Still a worthwhile release for updating synthpop for the modern era, though.
New Shining, on the other hand, is just a glorious object lesson in excess. Imagine if Devin Townsend was put in charge of remaking their previous album and you've got the right idea.
Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.
Thermals new is the best.
I don't know how I feel about Yeah Yeah Yeahs new album yet, It felt boring on the first listen, okay on the second and way too long on the third. Even the tracks I like are kinda bland only elevated by O's vocals which make them loads of fun especially Mosquito. Sigh, Sacrilege is the only truly good track.
The new Yeah Yeah Yeahs was such a disappointment for me.
The collab between James Blackshaw and Lubomyr Melnyk is my most recent high from this year.
New James Blake is really good, better than the debut.
Despite all my rage, I'm still just Nicolas Cage
New Ghost and Anciients albums are really good.
Ghost's new album isn't quite as good as their debut, Opus Eponymous, but it's close. Has some really good keys/synths/organs going on.
Anciients is just really good. Influences from everywhere. Mastodon to the Allman Brothers.
