Okay, here's a pie in the sky question about RBN and PS3:
Assuming that continued RBN ports to the PS3 will put too much of a drain on HMX resources, is there any chance of releasing the software tools so the community can do it themselves?

No chance whatsoever. It's not simply a business decision that ties RBN to Xbox. The RBN is run on Microsoft's XNA platform, which allows indie developers to submit new content and in many cases entire games to the marketplace (through a peer review process just like RBN songs....I'm sure RBN authors can elaborate on how it works). As far as I'm aware, there simply is no analogue on the Sony side. If there were, this probably would have happened a long time ago.
That is a real worry. I do have an old Guitar Hero 2 guitar that still works that I could use as a last resort...but I am pretty scared about the availability of replacement guitars once the DLC gets shut off and the community slowly dies off.
But look on the bright side, the ending of DLC (and death of the Rock Band brand) is helping them make....DANCE CENTRAL 4 for the Kinect 2.0 and Xbox 720!
*sigh*
I think I'll go cry now.
I'd say the complete silence on the future RBN support for the PS3 tells you everything you need to know. On everything said about RBN so far, HMX Henry has been careful to say *360* support, never mentioning the PS3. I think that will end the same time as the official DLC.
Agreed 100 percent with Hetz's above posts. I hope my last few RBN picks make it through before the window inevitably closes.
I think this song would be more suitable as HMX would miss us if the DLC does come to an end.

It's not an awesome day for announcements, I know. RB has been the focus of most of my waking hours for the last 5 years, so it's no picnic for me either. I hope everyone is aware that this isn't something we did without a lot of forethought and planning. We love RB every bit as much as all of you and want to do everything we can to support it as best we can for as long as we can.
Thanks to everyone for their understanding, positive comments, and constructive questions. I'll continue to respond to what I can as best I can.
Aaaand no comment about PS3 RBN :'''(
(not blaming you Aaron, it is what it is)
What's HMX going to do when the dance game fad goes out of style? They had to of planned Rock Band's demise, so they sure should be thinking ahead about that being over.
They might be working on something brand new that hasn't been done before (maybe one of projects they're talking about) and if not, they should be because I'd be a little worried otherwise. Dance Central is not going to last forever either. I think it's time to branch out a bit more if they plan on staying on the main consoles for the long term.
