Speaking of girls that play Rock Band. Have you talked to Rosa lately? Apparently today is her birthday and I havent seen it anywhere in a while.

I was just on facebook, and she's gone public with this, so I'm going to tell everyone here. I don't think it's been said yet -- if it was, I missed it.

She's dying. She has a blood condition where her body has stopped producing white blood cells, which fight off infections. Within a month, she'll have none left. She needs a bone marrow transplant to have any chance, but those are seldom successful without a blood relative as a donor. Which, as you may know, she doesn't have.

She has about a month, maybe less. Her facebook post as of yesterday says she was checking into the hospital, probably for the last time. She may not be online much again.

Yeah.

I've never really known someone and had them die before. My grandparents all died before I was 12, and the one who lived that long had Alzheimer's and never really recognized me. I did have a friend from high school die in a car accident, but that was different. I hadn't seen him in a couple of years, and it was just the shock, the funeral, and it was over. I think the closest thing I've ever had to anything like this before was my childhood dog dying.

So if I've been a little more crabby than usual lately, this is why. I don't know how to deal with losing someone I care about. It's something I've never really had to deal with before.

Experience doesn't really make it any easier. Just something that(hopefully) will get better over time.

I don't even know what to say about this. I didn't really talk to her much but was totally not expecting to hear news like this.

She told me about 2 weeks ago. I just swallowed really hard when I saw that post of yours from 2/1 that I quoted. I chatted with Rosa an awful lot. I really admire her personal strength and perseverance. Those are traits I wish I had. I leaned on her a lot more than she leaned on me.

And I'm not gonna be okay if and when we get the news. It's gonna be a really bad day, and maybe you know that my bad days tend to be a little worse than most people's.

Ah I see this whole situation has gone public.

Well I don't really know what to say. I've been thinking about this a lot lately and like SSSS said I've never really experienced much like this before. I didn't know Rosa all that well but I knew she was a pretty great person. All I can hope is that everything goes peacefully for her.

If you talk to her again Aly, just let her know we're thinking about her.
