I've popped the heads off to try to treat the crack and yeah as Doc said, they're glued enough that you would **** up the whole operation if you tried to just unplug them.

You could also just unscrew the middle thing and take the little censor thing out and just switch them. That's gotta be easier than splicing.

Or if you have a hot glue gun you can heat up the glue and take it out that way.

I actually just took all my pads off my old drum set and put them in storage. I just used pliers to take off the glue.

Thats what I did with my old drum set but I broke one of the clips. If hes worried about breaking them the hot glue gun is an easy way to do that.

That could mess up the wires. Also it could be extremely difficult.

Splicing the wires would take about a minute and a half and an inch of electrical tape. And I can be certain I won't wreck any tiny connectors with my sausage-fingers.
