I buy almost all my games used (complete with original online codes) from GameFly, so this change struck me, initially, as rather hostile. And yet, if they wind up using the Steam model of sales [always something on sale, even a few AAA titles, just about every title gets cheaper over time], then I'd probably be on board with it. And that's "sort of" how PSN purchases work, especially with Playstation Plus, right? Though surely the deals on digital titles aren't nearly as broad [number of titles] and deep [% off of original price] in the PSN store vs. on Steam, no? Or am I unfairly comparing the typical week for Playstation Plus with the once-a-year madness of a Steam Blowout Sale (which is the last time I bothered to browse the Steam site)?
It's already very rare that I buy a AAA title right at release, for the full $60, so this strategy really wouldn't affect me much. For those that regularly buy at $60, play obsessively for a week, then sell at $45, it would obviously be a big blow. But can you even do that anymore, given how many games already include a one-use only "online content" code [and all of the popular multiplayer content is online]?
