The 15-disc Blu-ray set keeps going on sale for under thirty-five bucks. I know that I'll ending buying it soon enough, because even though I only kind of liked the only film I've watched, I'm the kind of guy who is going to need to own the most complete package.

Weeellll...I'd suggest you watch the Extended Editions, because they're what the director intends (Peter Jackson dislikes the term "Director's Cut" because he thinks it connotes that he was dissatisfied with the Theatrical versions. He wasn't -- he just likes the Extended Editions better), but if three hours of swords and sorcery aren't your thing, four and a half probably won't be either.
