Plus, it's always nice to give each other something that you can enjoy as a couple.
I feel bad, because I just now got around to giving my wife her birthday present since she spent her actual birthday worrying over me in the hospital.

I'm sure Kate forgives you. The fact that you survived your whole ordeal was probably the best gift you could have ever given her. anything after that is just gravy.

I don't think the "hey I survived, be grateful" card will last that long. So it's good to show a little gratitude every now and then that isn't an art project I brought home.

I wish. My family has a weird tendency to get me gift cards from stores where I never buy stuff and that are way more expensive than my usual stores, so in the end using the cards to get what I want often ends up actually being more expensive.

But with a little research, gift cards are great, which is why I'm giving the missus a gift card as the final part of her present as well (although considering the store it's for it's as much a gift for me as it is for her, wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more, say no more ).

I'm sure your health was the best gift she could've received at the time. Besides, better late than never, right?

Definitely a rejected hallmark card right there!

Why don't you return the favour and treat her to a day of pampering, where she doesn't have to do a thing for a whole day?

I've tried that before. On our honeymoon she kept worrying how the kids were doing and if they're going to grow to resent us because we aren't home. I told her that I don't believe 3 month old children hold grudges and she asked me how I'd know that.

She got me there, I have no idea whether 3 month old babies hold grudges. But now I have 11 month old babies and I'm fairly certain they don't hate me yet, so I must be doing something right.

She pretty much deadlocked that conversation. Maybe someone should research whether babies can hold grudges....
