Ideally, yes. But perhaps it needn't be every single second. Just almost every single second

    You're missing the point.

I hold a day of shooting with my actors and crew and everybody. The movie itself will only end up being about 8 minutes long, but that day of shooting is a full day of shooting. 9 or 10 or 12 hours on each camera. That's what I need to put into the computer/external HDD.

Ohhhhh kay. You guys are really gonna have to dumb this down for me, it seems.
Ah... I had no idea you were going to have all cameras rolling all the time... That's a really interesting was of filming!

Unfortunately, I can't word it any simpler. I'd literally have to teach you in person. I'm sure there's someone here that can talk to you about it.

What about the cameras, then? Any suggestions? I want to make this happen, but I don't want it to look like crap either.

I would say the ONLY advantage of FAT32 these days is compatibility with older/foreign operating systems... hardly making it a better "all rounder".

Also, I think the point is moot for large external drives. FAT32 only supports partitions of up to 32GB I think (I believe there are some hacks to increase this limit), whereas NTFS is good up to something like 16 TB.

    Dslr's are good.
    Sony V1
Sony A1 (the Sony cameras will get the job done and to a fair quality)

For a laugh, look up a RED camera. There is no way on this earth you'd be able to afford it, but this is the kind of camera you'd want to have.

I don't have my hard drive partitioned. It just works on both mac iOS and windows OS. That's why I like it

You mean you have a single partition.

If that's what you call it, sure. All I know is its in Vat32, no capacity was removed/compromised in the format and I can use it on both OS's

How about something like this? Looks like it's in my price-range. If I really cheap out on the computer and an external hard drive comes as cheap as Justin says, I might actually be able to get it all at once.

Only thing is, I don't want to make shaky cam/found footage movies. I want it to look like it was shot by someone who knows what they're doing. So do I need to find three experienced camera operators or is there some shortcut? I've seen camera operators use some sort of mobile stand sometimes, do those come cheap at all? Would they need to be selected with a specific camera in mind?
