I'm just saying they should try to find interesting fun new ways to play a game. Look at Katamari. That game is mad fun, no guns. I'm tired of every other game being "follow this hallway. Shoot this guy. Watch this cutscene. You win!".

I agree. I play my share of games with shooting like Bioshick, Borderlands, and Gears of War, but something different more often would be nice.

I think Katamari is mad boring after you play the first one and even then it gets boring fast.

Its a serviceable 3rd person shooter. It doesnt harm the game in anyway but its not super fantastic. Its better gameplay then Serious Sam though.

Serious Sam has unique gameplay in the sense of it being the only game that has you running backwards for 90% of the game. that you don't like that ok, but absolutely nothing in that gameplay is flawed. especially considering how crazily well it's balanced for every difficulty setting. there's literally a perfect setting for each kind of player.

although I'm not 100% counting Serious Sam 3 as that, because it had quite a lot of the linear small corridor forward pushing that I so detest in modern games.


where as Spec Ops in terms of gameplay is a generic 3rd person shooter, which has been done way better by many companies before (nope, not talking about the storyline or anything. just gameplay perspective)


tell me this, if you could have spec ops, being 5 times longer. while still keeping the same feel you've had throughout the entire game like what you felt about the game like it is now. would you not want it?

because the only thing to blame for that not being there, is that the developers didn't have enough creativity/imagination/material to do that. while it would've been technically easily possible.

There are plenty of games that don't have shooting in them, from the ultra-violent (God of war games) to completely non-violent (Eyepet) to weird (Katamari ... and Eyepet) to traditional (MLB the show).

So Serious Sam gameplay is better because you have to run backwards instead of forwards?

Generic doesnt mean bad in the terms of gameplay. It works it feels good and it doesnt make the game worse to play. Thats good.

If Spec ops was 25 hours long would I want it? Probably not. I enjoy shorter games because they dont feel like they go on too long. Even good games that are lengthy sometimes feel like they go on too long. Also I like variety and if every game was 25 hours long that would be antithetical to what I want.
