I'd just like to extend my sympathies/condolences to the Wii crowd, too. I'm on the PS3 so I feel your pain.![]()
It's spelled "Squier." Stop spelling it like someone who is in training to be a knight.
That is 100% the album version (except for the Big Rock Ending). Not sure what version you're used to.
The live version of Dream On... I still love it. Up until Friday, it didn't seem like we'd every get any Aerosmith, EVER. So I'll take it. Steven Tyler ALWAYS changes his melodies live, and that's one of the brilliant thing about him. The nuances he adds live give each song their own new life. Sure, he sounded completely stoned during the first half of the track, but after the guitar solo, he couldn't be more on point for the remainder of the song. And stoned Steven Tyler is always awesome.
And when it comes to having to get live versions because the masters are unavailable, I'll take a live track from an old recording when a band was in their heyday than opposed to a 2012 version of the band covering a 30 year old song. Examples where live versions are done well: Thin Lizzy, Tom Petty. Examples where live versions are just a disappointment: Judas Priest.
Iron Maiden was one of the few packs where a recent recording did justice to old songs.
But in the end, I'm really glad to have Aerosmith.
Ah, ok. While I have Greatest Hits and Greatest Hits II on cd (remember those?) in a box the basement, I don't think I ever listened to them. Simply because everything up to (and probably including Permanent Vacation) is a solid album front-to-back, and totally worth a complete listen.
