Upgrading to electronic drums 2 questions

I am purchasing a midi pro adapter and i am looking at getting these drums

    http://www.cranbournemusic.com.au/cs...033000455.html

1.Am i correct in assuming that because it has a midi out port i should be able to just plug them in to the midi pro and play without having to use a pc or anything like that?

2.Are you able to remap midi signals on the pro adapter say for instance if a cymbal is mapped to the wrong color?

The MPA will be plug'n'play provided the module you intend to use has a MIDI Out port and sends the MIDI notes the MPA is programmed to respond to. The MPA can not be remapped.

    1: Yes

2: No, the settings are made in the drum brain, not the MPA. The details on which MIDI notes is which ''button'' is in the MPA's instruction manual.

Ok thanks Alternity, the drum set i am looking at does have a midi out so hopefully it also has the correct signals or at least the ability to change it to suit the mpa.

i had a roland hd-1 & upgraded to a roland td-11 because i liked the mesh drumheads instead of the rubberized ones & had no problems at all. i added the cymbals one at a time to get used to the new locations/indicators

That MIDI map makes 'em plug'n'play.

I confirm, just looked at the manual, and yes, you won't need to do any adjustments.

Ok thanks for confirming that, It also seems you can remap the midi notes anyway but that won't be needed. I am looking for a set of those drums today and hopefully the MPA comes tomorrow.

If you want to be a crazy person, you can set the midi pro adapter to "keys" instead of "drums" (GKM) and then you can play any of the 5-lane charts on the drums. No sustains, though, and good luck trying to hit 3 note chords. It works pretty well for bass, though.

I don't have the midi note map offhand that makes it workable, but I posted in the forum somewhere.

    -- edit --

    Found it!

Should be 50,52,53,55 for red, yellow, blue, orange, and then green is 60. I think it repeats if you go further up. This was like defg4 and c5, IIRC.
