RB3 profile sharing on PS3 (PSN)

My family of four would like to be able to load our own PS3 PSN profiles when playing together. Currently, when playing together, we have to pick one profile, and can only load characters and save personal standings for the single loaded profile.

Is there no way that we can play together, play the characters we've created, and record our scores independently?

Not on the PS3 there isn't. The Xbox 360 version can do that but the PS3 version cannot.

    *sigh*

My family, about 1.5 years ago, stopped being interested in RB3 due to this reason -- I got the same response then.

I was hoping after some time had passed, that Harmonix would have released a patch to fix this on PS3. They actually mentioned breaking it back out today, but my son asked to go back to RB2 so that he could play from his profile.

I wonder how many PS3 owners lost interest in RB due to this reason -- or if Harmonix cares.

it's a sony thing. you can't do that with any game i believe.

so yeah, telling HMX to fix it doesn't really help.

As I understand it, Sony has done it with some of their own games (one or more of the LittleBigPlanet and/or ModNation Racers games, as I understand it, supports this functionality).

I don't know of any third-party titles that can do so, though.

You can log in to different profiles on Little Big Planet, however, I don't think that the profiles are signed in, I think they only read the save game.

Yeah, that would be awesome if I could log in on LBP at another house, and have it import all my outfits & settings from the last save file I uploaded from my own machine (every night, thanks to Playstation Plus). But it doesn't do that. Ditto for RB - would be awesome, not possible (or at least "not implemented and not going to be").

At this point, it would take me a while to get used to the way the 360 scores songs, I really like the way that all individual instrument scores (+ a full band score) gets saved, every time, for every song. I usually wind up replaying the really poor performances that some of my friends record, because they drag my instrument rating way down [though do these get updated any more, on Rock Band World?]. I suppose I could always choose to not record their scores (menu option every time an instrument is connected: "Record Scores?") but, again, I've gotten used to the way it works.

As a PS3 owner I actually love the fact that everyone uses my account since there is a ton of goals I have yet to achieve all across the board. By this same token I have gone to friends' houses and unlocked goals on their systems too. Most of my friends don't care about scoring when we're together. It's only when I'm alone that I try to go for high scores. RB is more performance art for me.
Check me out at myrockbandsongs.com/Islander/songs to see if we're compatible!
