Lightbulb Would you get RB for Steam or OUYA?

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm referring to the upcoming Steambox for the TV, not so much for the ability to play RB on your laptop on the bus.

Okay I don't pretend to be an expert on the gaming industry. However, maybe this should be a poll. I'm curious myself to hear others chime in more than anything.

With all this talk of RB on (or not on) next gen consoles, I thought maybe a better move might be to either Android/OUYA or PC/Steambox with DRM. Then you could potentially mix and match USB dongles from X-BOX and PS3 guitars, drums, competing games, etc. It could also open up some more midi possibilities or allow people to use QUERTY keyboards for guitars.

If the RB3/4 ported game came with enough content, I might not feel too badly about re-buying a lot of stuff, though of course I'd still like a path to RB DLC citizenship from PS3.

I know people see the tide shifting against RB. However, for my daughter's B-Day party I can tell you what everyone wanted to play. It was next to impossible to kick the kids off so the adults could play a little.

I also still meet people who haven't played the game or would still like to get into it, but can't get the toys.

I feel like one of these types of upgradeable platforms with some DRM built-in could give this franchise a shot in the arm.

    Thoughts?

I sense something cool coming soon. Look for an announcement before the end.

    1. Maybe you're right. But...
    2. Why not? It is because of your current investment in DLC? I'll tell you what, I'd buy it if the steam box arrives to connect to the TV. Of course I don't want to play it in front of my PC, but that wasn't what I meant.

The steambox is a PC you can connect it to whatever you want. I have invested thousands of dollars into Rock Band and if Im going to start over without DLC its going to have to be Rock Band 4 not Rock Band 3 on PC

I hear you. I'd like to have my DLC too. I'm certain that for most of us, that would be preferred.

So only one person answered the question from this morning. I guess that's the answer?

Give these things some time. These forums aren't the most busy during the school week, you know.

"X-BOX" guitars don't use dongles. Not sure what you mean by competing games, because pretty much any 5-button guitar is compatible with any music game, at least on 360 and PS3.

I'm a Steam fanboy, but unless every single piece of DLC I have is carried over for me, not a chance.

No I agree the DLC is a big thing. I just wonder if it might help tap some new audience or something. I guess I figured between USB, BT and other controllers used on a PC, you might be able to mix and match the toys on a Steambox. If you can use wiimotes on PC, why not?

I just want to see this Rock Band thing go on somehow.
