    I think its time...

For a brand new Rock Band. The music game market has cooled off considerably from the height a few years ago. No new rhythm games have been made except for one or two. The music game genre became over saturated and it simply imploded on itself. RockBand is still a very popular game and it shows as the PS3 version is still extremely hard to find and actually sells for more than it did brand new. I urge both Harmonix and EA to consider making a new Rockband if not for this current gen perhaps the next gen with the Wii U and PS4.

...you're not too up on the news are you?

I'm pretty sure 99% of the people on this board would like a Rock Band 4; but it ain't happening.
    775 Tracks: RB + RB2 + LRB + AC/DC + GDRB + Blitz + 22 RBN + 423 DLC

Or, more aptly, nothing is in development for Rock band 4 right now. That's all we know for sure! People are speculating all sorts of things from "Rb3 is the final RockBand!" to "they're waiting to see what the new platforms are going to look like before making a move" to "NDAs are making everyone stay silent". It's been pretty wild and there's a ton of threads about this.

I'm personally in the "wait for the next platform" group because we're really close to seeing a PS4 and Xbox720 is probably coming out next year. It just would be logical due to controller changes, programming changes and such to make the next Rock Band after the new platform comes out. I'd like to see another Rock Band as more of a platform that is upgraded over time instead of just DLC and the same old modes. I'm thinking it would be sort of like how Halo has added new modes, new maps, and such via free downloaded expansions.

Anyway, I digress... there's threads for talking about your dream RB4 already! Back on subject, it's not quite time for RB4 but soon... oh yes, soon!

    Define "soon".

I'm as optimistic as the next guy, or well...maybe not, but I figure best case scenario 2015.

    Worst case, never.

Yes and it should have Backward compatibility with all the DLC on our accounts plus RB3 export

The market exists. The fact we're talking about RB4 and buying plastic instruments shows we are interested! The main problems are RB3 being old and saturated. Age means less players and RB3 is 3 years old. Also some players are hitting the point they're happy with their collections so they buy less DLC. There's also a DLC limit on usable DLC for RB3, which doesn't help. Sure you can swap out songs, but it's not the same as being able to use everything you want to.

When new features come out, people see the company is making a game priority and are more interested in spending money on it. RB4's massive update (new platform, new software!) will draw players back who will have to buy all new hardware due to the platform change and may want to brush up their DLC collection as well. If RB4 also has feature (not song, feature!) updates which may or may not cost money once a year or so, then people are more likely to stay even stronger with RB4 than they did on RB3.

I can't fault Harmonix for years of new levels to play or for them wanting a break from a game series they've been working on for a long time. That just leaves me hopeful that a new platform and a much needed break will bring Rockband to the next console gen sooner than we think.

The market can't support it because it's a game thats over 2 years old and hasn't been sold in retail for about as long. That's pretty impressive when you consider the lifespan of even the most popular games.

Either way, no it's not time. It needs to go away for awhile. Long enough to make it refreshing and new to peoples minds and have a new audience. Guitar Hero will be back first, and I would not be surprised to see a new Guitar Hero announcement for next gen in two years. Early enough to grab a market, late enough for the next gen consoles to have a following.

A new Rock Band title? 4, maybe 5 years if it ever becomes a reality.
