It was 50 years ago this month that the Beatles were recording their first album. I'm really enjoying reading this account of how the songs were chosen and the recording process, etc. Start at the beginning and follow along!

"The Beatles Become the Headliners"

The headliners, a couple of Yankees, didn’t they see them that way either. “Who are these guys The Beatles?” commented Chris Montez, fresh off the hits “Let’s Dance” and “Some Kinda Fun.” “I try to keep up to date with the British scene,” he added, “but I don’t know their work.” Montez shared top billing with Tommy Roe, who had a No. 1 hit six months earlier with “Sheila,” and the Beatles were the openers.

This was a mistake. And that was clear from the first night of the tour.
