RBN has been better than the Harmonix DLC for the past couple months... but it is you loss if you want to assume that every band you don't know is "crap"

    People still actually own Wiis?
Do not buy from rockbandparts.com - the site is a scam.

No. We're ending weekly DLC after 275+ consecutive releases, but will continue to support all the other parts of Rock Band, including...

And no, I'm not expecting it, but it's nice to have hope.
That's correct. We don't have any DLC on the schedule at the moment, but we still have the staff and technical capability to release DLC should the right opportunity arise. Again, nothing is planned at the moment, but should things fall in line with the right band at the right time, we could release DLC again.

Does that mean Metallica pack when the exclusivity is up? Van Halen? Eagles?

    I'm just being a stinker.

The prospect is uplifting, but I think Guitar Hero left that sentiment when they got out of the DLC game. It's the end of the console generation, so forgive me if I'm doubting the chances. It's just too risky, as doing DLC this long has been.

Seeing as how they supported PS2 for years after this console generation started, I don't see why it won't happen.

To be fair, I think that was a very, very different scenario. The announcement that GH was closing came from an corporate earnings call, not an up front community announcement. Neversoft were hit by substantial layoffs, meaning they didn't have the staff or ability to release DLC even if they wanted to. GH also wasn't entirely their property, they were developing for Activision, where as we are independent and retain all the IP and control of RB.

Also, historically, I think we've done a pretty good job of providing long term support that other music games didn't.

Some of my very favorites are RBN songs, including "Blow at High Dough" by The Tragically Hip and most of the Jonathan Coulton songs (all but two of the 16 available; "Code Monkey" and "Chiron Beta Prime" have to be two of my all-time most played, along with Freezepop's "Special Effects", another RBN song ).
