So, I'm trying to rebuild some consistency by getting better scores on songs I've FCed before and ideally get to where I never fail to FC the song. Generally, songs I get through easily but not usually without a few mistakes. In the process of trying hard to FC them again with a better overdrive path and less dropped sustains, I have noticed that:
- I derp out and incorrectly finger notes I've seriously never missed before.
- Trying to play along with what I hear results in playing way too fast and losing the beat.
- I always want to come in way, way too early on energy sustains (getting out in front of the notes has always been a problem for me, but not as embarrassingly blatantly).
- If I play a certain passage too often my fingers will somehow program themselves to push the wrong buttons (even if I got that part right most of the time before) and it takes a huge amount of training at low speed to regain control of my fingers.
When I finally do get a higher score on that song, it's usually long after I've been through this ordeal and I wasn't even trying. Anyone else have similar experiences? Is there a scientific term for whatever psychological phenomena causes this?
