Congrats, you do a tough job (in actuality, it sounds like a similar job my Dad used to do, I however played clever and earn a decent wage in a charity shop, and then referee for wrestling companies around the UK, mebbe not as "tough" of a job some would say, but a damned sight more fun!)

But the fact remains that you paid through the nose for a game with a vast chunk of songs you dislike... what logic did you use for that if you had heard ALL of the tracks, and disliked half then?

Face facts, if you knew of every song in the game, knew you disliked half of them, yet still bought the game... then who's to blame that half of the songs you dislike? You knew they were there, you knew it wasn't a full game. Stop blaming someone else 'cause you bought a game with a soundtrack you didn't like when the entire game is based around that soundtrack.

oh, well I prefer to actually work for my money. wont be doing that job forever, man. just until I can save enough to go to school for something better, or join a successful band (not really banking my life on that one, though).

my logic was that I needed new songs and I assumed that the game would be priced lower like what was promissed from the get go. the only reason I paid for it is because GH and GHII literally bore me now.

man, you're completely missing my point. the game is too expensive, no question. thats my main problem with the game, how can you deny it, its a ****ing fact.

in fact, heres an article directly from wiki:

"Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s has received less praise than the first two games in the series. GameSpot gave the game a 7.0/10 review, criticizing the amount of songs with regard to the game's price. The reviewer commented that "thirty songs for $50 is a lousy value any way you slice it" and the game "feels like a quick and dirty cash-in." The reviewer also commented that the soundtrack was "eclectic," but "solid."1UP.com gave the game a 7.5/10 review, echoing these sentiments.[ IGN scored the game 7.2/10,[22] criticizing the song selection and quality of the song covers.

Most critics agreed that the game's price point was high, considering the reduced soundtrack. As of July 28, 2007, Rocks the 80s has an average review score of 73/100 on Metacritic and 75% on Game Rankings"

Actually... I never once denied that the game was an over-priced, blatant cash-in, with no work what-so-ever done to spicing the game up (Even the encore for The Blackout Bar was kept exactly the same... so we had a siren leading into I Wanna Rock... wtf?)

However it was an over-priced cash-in that I was willing to buy from the day it was announced (to the point I had already told the staff in the local store that I would pick up a copy, and could they reserve it for me).

my main complaint was that people are complaining about the price here, as though it's Harmonix's fault, all they're guilty of is making the game, and for all we know, they were told that it was only something to tide everyone over, and so assumed it would be a cheap "expansion" rather than being priced as a full blown game.

The only thing that miffed me was the GH2 was priced at £19.99 brand new over here... yet 80's was £29.99... we got half the songs, and paid an extra half of the price... ta muchly Activision!

the only thing that I really got a kick out of was the alternate costumes for the characters, like Johnny Napalms rat tail and axel steels arena rocker look.

as for the game itself, its fun, just not worth the price. I'm not unhappy with the product, I just feel that it was ridiculously over priced which doesnt sit well with me.

I'm used to everything being stupidly over-priced... I live in the UK after all, so we're taxed on everything... "here's your wages... but we've taken off tax, oh yes, when you bought that game, we're taxing you on it, you want to drive on the road... yup we'll be taxing that... and yes we do apologize but the petrol so you can actually use the roads you've been taxed for... is also taxed, oh sorry, you want to die and leave your family money... yes you're taxed there too"

So yeah... I'm used to over-pricing, I guess it wasn't so bad for me, as lately the Wii games have been coming out priced at £45 new (about $80-$90!), so £29.99 was a relative bargain in retrospect... but yeah, I still feel it was overpriced.

£19.99 would've been sufficient I think. However none of us know what they had to make back thanks to the cost of licensing the tracks to begin with... so there could've been another reason for the high price initially as well.

I live in Canada, its the same thing here, man. we have to pay 6 percent "government sales tax" on everything here. so for every one dollar you spend you have to pay an extra six cents. but I live in the only province that doesnt have Provincial Sales Tax on top of the GST so it could be worse. some provinces pay the six percent with an added 14 percent tax for every dollar, so thats 20 cents for every dollar spent. and we also get taxes removed from our paychecks every two weeks. it isnt optional, alot of my money goes to **** like unemployment insurance so that unmotivated *******s can make money off of my work, yay.

man, you got iy for cheap. its priced at 60 dollars here in Canada. not cool, some people in other provinces probably spent close to 80 bucks for it. ugh.

well, realistically the game would have sold exceptionally well with a 30 dollar price tag so the cost of royalties would have been easily covered. with the high price of the game I imagine sales would be lower and it would be more difficult to cover the royalty costs.

if its an expansion it shouldnt be priced as highly as a full game, no question about it. in fact, I cant think of any PS2 games that are priced that highly anymore. so yeah, thanks for ripping off your customers, guys.

um...either an affordable filler game or something that at least had some sort of care put into it. the game is literally a lesser version of GHII. so basically, I expected to not get ripped off.
im Canadian and i only payed 55 at EB games
