you know, i hadn't heard them until i heard float on on the radio... no wait, actually i had heard polar opposites before, but i didn't really start listening to them till good news... i began to like that album so much that i started to look into their older stuff, which completely blew me away.

however, belittling someone because they like their new music is rediculous. they are still putting out some great music, and though i'd be dissapointed if they made a float on, ocean breathes salty, and dashboard pack, i wouldn't be pointing my finger at anyone(though i hope HMX knows there are much better songs).

there's no need to act like such an elitist because you've known about a band longer than a lot of other people. i used to live in Tacoma, WA (about 15 minutes west of Issaquah) and i hadn't heard them at all till right before good news came out!

also, people who classify "indie" as a genre piss me off.

on a lighter note, this thread is 10 pages deep and not one "this band sucks" post!

i was just listening to the moon and antarctica yesterday and thought that A Different City would be perfect for all instruments... a lot of modest mouse's songs may be pretty repetitive one certain instruments, but that one seemed like it would go great.
