I continually see a trend of bands hating their popular songs.
Slash hated Sweet Child O' Mine; Chrissie Hynde hates Brass in Pocket; Thom Yorke hates Creep; etc.

I really hope Harmonix surprises us with some of Cake's less popular songs; a band's best guitar parts are never in their biggest singles.

You number of posts is currently 1337. So I have to agree with what you said twice as much now.

Another reason CAKE may not want "The Distance" being used could be that it was written by Greg Brown, CAKE's former lead guitarist who left the band 10 years ago, before CAKE recorded their third album, Prolonging the Magic. I'm sure they're still on good terms and everything, as Greg Brown has returned as a guest musician on subsequent albums. CAKE just might want some of their stuff (meaning: songs written by current band members) in Rock Band.

That, or, like you said, they just hate the song.

Awesome you got a reply to the emails you sent. I had just recently got one as well that said basically the same as Sandswipe's.

And FINALLY, Cake is coming back to Seattle and we're going May 11th!

    Awesome.

Hey, guys and gals! Get ready to VOTE for CAKE!

    64 bands!
    5 days of fierce competition!
One will be crowned the world champion of modern rock!

The Fantastic Four are: Radiohead, Modest Mouse, Cake, and Beck. Voting begins Friday night at 7pm.

CAKE has survived 3 rounds and is entering the much harder rounds of Y-Rock On XPN's Modern Rock Madness! These are the bands that have made it so far: Radiohead, The Strokes, The Cure, Modest Mouse, Flaming Lips, CAKE, Weezer and Beck.

Right now, it's <strike>Radiohead vs. The Strokes.</strike> The Cure vs. Modest Mouse! Go cast your vote now. I'll post another reply when CAKE goes up against The Flaming Lips. Should be an interesting turn-out!

So far, CAKE has beat out Green Day, Wilco and R.E.M.!

I can't believe overrated generiternative bands like Radiohead, The Strokes, and Modest mouse beat out David Bowie, Talking Heads, Joy Division, The Sex Pistols, Muse, Clash, and R.E.M (Some of my favorite bands). At least Cake is in. They are the only original unique band on the list. I hope they don't get beaten.

Far and away my favorite Cake Song. I dont' really know why, other than its general sweetness, but I am transfixed, forgetting just to breathe.

    I voted for Cake!
    The PR transmissions will resume.
