First, the question, "Why did the forums work pre-11/20?"

As bad as it might sounds, it's because there was a clique here. There was, at least to me, a feeling that if you wanted your voice to be heard in a conversation, you needed to get on the good side of the regulars. If you were posting things that weren't adding the conversation at hand, you were ignored, and if you were being a troll, you were called out on it. The regulars were all really cool people, so it was more motivation to obey the unspoken rules and gain acceptance into the group.
the only problem with that is that not everyone thinks the way they did, i was coming here for a while and everytime somebody mentioned something abouta band they would like to see this "group" would totally bash on them and make them feel unwanted, this forum isn't just for the old school rock likers, it's for anyone who likes any type of rock, they totally just made everyone else feel stupid for even trying to post their opinions, i know not all of them were like that but the majority of them, so therefore i don't agree with your 2 cents, everyone should have an equal say without the fear of getting bashed

Personally, the reason I don't post much here is because of the forum interface. It's slow, seems clunky and is not very customizable. It's difficult to read IMO. To me it just feels more like a video game's website rather than a forum community.

Oh yeah, something made me remember that the RSS feed on this site is broken, and that might serve as a useful tool for annoucements, news, etc if it worked.

Honestly this has been one of the better communities I have been a part of. Especially when it comes to the amount of animosity between members. Most of the time people seem to be eager to be nice to eachother, but obviously there is going to be the occasional flaming.

There has been a slowdown, at least in my eyes since the game came out. I think that is in part because there is no more waiting around to see what the next bit of news will be, other than DLC. This could also be the reason for the less stellar posting on the boards part.

Like I said I don't find the boards that bad, I don't post nearly as much as I used to, but I do find some gems of topics every once in a while.

Reading the main post about the BAN HAMMER.....makes me think THAT is a good idea.

The forum needs you(or me...I will happily take justice into my hands) to take upon yourself the heavy weight and responsibility of the BAN HAMMER and GO FORTH IN THE NAME OF JUSTICE to CLEANSE this forum FREE of VILE rule breakers.

Seeing the shadow of the BAN HAMMER looming over them will produce fear, and once again this place will be kept orderly.

    RULE WITH AN IRON FIST!!

(note that I typed this out with gritted teeth and clenched fists....yes I can type that way when JUSTICE is involved)

While I am at it, I also suggest that powdered wigs and robes be required forum wear.

Haha. To clarify, I do not like banning people, and don't think it's a particularly valid method of policing the forums. It's pretty much there to deter trolls, although I have had to make exceptions in the past.

    Very Funny Raveger, lol.

I myself believe some reorganising of the forums might help at this point.

Announcements: Lock the announcement and then link to a Duplicate discussion Thread located in the correct forum location.
    Rock Band: Split into
    DLC / Songs
    GamePlay
    GameDesign/Suggestions
Ultimate Setlist : Too messy for my liking. I would prefer something like an enormous songlist that that could be added to and add votes for songs, with statistics. At least break threads into genres.
Tech Support : Could do with a modding section and (One of the BEST mod posts is kinda hidden in the General forum)

And Thanks for pointing out the Rock Blog. I tend to go to the forum for information rather than the general site and so miss Info that is updated there. Maybe links to new content on the web site could be made in the Announcements section.

I think it would be cool to know which bands were not interested in being a part of Rock Band. That way we could go to that bands message board and maybe as fans get them reverse their opinion. I doubt you would want to do that, but if they aren't going for it now what is it going to hurt?

lol ive been temp banned from here once and it was for defending the harmonix product against some dim wit ranting about how terrible the game was, how is that justice?

My D key (actually most of that region of the keyboard) doesn't work half the time, you'll have to excuse that

As for the Albums (let's please not derail this too much into an album/dlc discussion following this), I'm going to take the Blizzard stance: when they are ready, they will be made available, and we'll all be better off for the extra unexpected time taken. It's a sucky answer for the short term, but looking back I think we will all be happy with the results.
HMXJohnlok thank you for your response. It is much appreciated. Let me say this, it is far easier to criticize then it is to applaud the efforts of your team. I know some of my posts although some negative, hopefully serve as feedback for you and the rest of the team.

I bought this game for my son who is 11 years old, soon to be 12. Since Xmas he has played it non-stop ( Drums ). And yes his daddy also loves to play ( Guitar ).

As advertised this game birthed a new drummer. I made a deal with my son that if he could 5 star 10 songs on this game on expert I would buy him a real drum set and get him into lesson. The moment I made that deal the very next day I came home from work. He says come watch me play a song on expert ( LOL He was only playing on medium and hard the day before ). I expected him to play something pretty easy. He puts on Enter Sandman. Crushed that song with a 97%. He was practicing all day long since he did not have school.

From that moment I knew it would not be long and sure enough within a week he not only had 10 songs 5 stared. He could play almost all of them. Run to the hills is not his favorite to play yet

I signed him up for Drum lessons 2 weeks ago and his starter Tama Imperial Star Drum Kit will be here this weekend.

You truly have an amazing product and I know not all my personal favorite songs will not be in the game. I have downloaded over 1/2 of the DLC available. You guys rock with the continued DLC and even weeks that I dont like the content I apppreciate the fact you are continuing support of this amazing game.

I just hope you guys let the fans inside a little more with what bands will make it in the game, and what we can expect to see.

Anyways I will go back to my forum lurking mode but I wanted to let you know that not every negative post, is really negative. ( Frustrating ).

PS: if you put in Master of Puppets from Metallica and Sweet Child o' Mine from GNR I will have your babies

    Rock on HMX
