It's a type of a disc. I'm not sure if they have Blu Ray games, but I know they have Blu Ray movies. The PS3 has one built in. It displays the picture in absolute highest quality possible.

Blu Ray, but definition, is a huge waste of money.

I just bought an HD-TV after winning some money at a casino yesterday, also it was a tax-free weekend up here in mass. so it that didn't hurt, and I finally got to watch a blu-ray on a real TV and not on a standard definition one. It is the greatest movie experience and if you do buy it in the PS3 sort of combo it makes the system even more worth it.

The movie was Reservoir Dogs, btw.

That's for sure. With all the talk about how expensive the PS3 was at $600, when it first came out, it was still about $200 less than most Blue-ray players at the time.

I'm not even sure what you're referring to here.

Blue Ray is a type of laser, developed largely in part by the Klingons for the extermination of human scum. It is most powerful, capable of vaporizing carbon based life in nanoseconds. It also can be used to fry up a *****in southwest omlette.

Blue Ray and HD-DVD are newer standards for what you know as DVD. They can hold more Data and have faster transfer rates.

This basically means that you can get higer video data rates from the disc which equals higher video quality.

At the moment both Blu Ray and HD-DVD are on Generation 1 and are working on Generation 2 drives, Blue Ray is touted as the better standard (due to higer storage) but I think HD-DVD will win out on its lower price point. (same as Betamax was better than VHS but VHS was cheaper, so thats what the consumers went for)

I know that some Second Gen Blue Ray drives 'will' support HD-DVD reading, and I would expect in the fullness of time that both formats will read/write both discs (ala dual format, like the DVD+ and DVD- combo drives)
