The Official Thread of Officialness-icity (Official)

It's official, this thread is the most officially official thread there ever was, officially. In fact, it's so official that it has its own official stamp of official-ness.

Now, if that's not official, I don't know what is.

    ..OFFICIAL!

Bugs you too? They kinda' do it all over the net, but I've noticed it nearly every day here. I think I remember someone threatening to pistol whip the next person to start a thread with "Official" in the topic, so I have a concussion coming my way.

The background color of that image isn't the same as the one on these boards. I mean, if that's what you were going for. It's close, just not officially the same.

EDIT: In defense of the "Official" CAKE DLC thread I created (which I have a feeling someone will bring up), look at how many CAKE threads were started (and died) before I made it. Then look at how many have been created since I made it. Exactly. I only included the word "official" to keep other CAKE threads from popping up.

Once an "official" thread for a band has been made, so long as it's got, at the very least, a list of songs people have voted for (and an updated count) and a never-closing poll, no more should ever be made for that band. All fans of that band should be concentrated in that thread. Can you honestly argue that?

If the word "official" keeps more threads of the same topic from being created, isn't that worth it?

I don't think anyone has a problem with someone making an "Official" thread that's actually useful. If you put forth the effort and work to make it into the only page someone really needs to look at on the subject, then the phrase has some merit. But then you have people who post things like this:

    ___

Topic: "THE OFFICIAL [SONG NAME HERE] THREAD!!!1!!"

    Body: i want it lol
    ___

Yes, and I want the 10 seconds it took me to read that back.

Haha, okay. Well, that makes me feel better. Thanks.

And in that case, I agree!

I either never open them, or open them just to comment on the persons stupidity. (This topic I knew was a joke so I guess this one was an exception).

Based on that (and that you haven't posted in it to comment on my stupidity), my guess is you haven't looked at my CAKE thread? Do so and tell me: do you think it deserves to be called "official"? Whether or not you're a fan of the band, you should be able to appreciate the work that's gone into it.

You gotta take a chance sometimes with these "official" threads! Some of them are worthwhile.

I just realised that I've got the hilariously unpofficial thing in my sig and it's been there since before the whole official thing started. Now I can claim it's a fantastic rebuttal to those
