DLC Patch Notes - 2/26/08

It's been over a week now..

Why can't Harmonix just call Sony and ask what the issue is? How can we be told twice that it's "fixed" when it isn't? It's a good thing we don't have a 5 download limit like so many people feared as I know I've tried more then that now..

Again, I know more then one has said that it's not a big deal, but like my previous responses have said, it's not just this one issue.. It's a collection of things that keeps following a pattern for the PS3.. Between my buddy and I, we have bought pretty much every song released. But, I've decided to not buy any more content until they figure this out and my buddy agreed to follow suite.. I'm sure Harmonix could care less about my few lost purchases, but it's the principal.

Maybe Sony's guitar patch block is also blocking the DLC patches.

(Off topic, does Activision realize that their blocking of the Rock Band patch won't matter next month when Nyko's guitar comes out? Likewise, I don't want to buy the Nyko guitar and have Activision approve Harmoninx' patch a few weeks later.)

This is the kind of patch we get? Genre classifications? Did anyone even notice, or care compared to other issues?

There's the answer to why the patch hasn't been allowed in the first place possibly kinda sorta, I'd be interested in knowing if there are any ties between nyko and activision. hhhmmmmmm?

The initial bug is both a xbox and PS3 problem.. The case of the missing patch is only a PS3 problem.

I would say lets branch off from that thread and boycot, but it's pretty much useless. Just read the thread, xbox people have already poluted it with so much fanboyism that it's just sad.. But when a developer clearly supports one console over the other, what do you expect.. But, if you do read it, you will see it just further proves my previous point.. Which is... Harmonix has already indirectly started a PS3 boycot all by themselves by favoring one console over the other.. People come to these forums and see threads like these showing how the PS3 version has issues and avoid it like the plague.. The lack of chat is such a blatent slap in the face; hell, even Tekken5 has voice chat..

But, I'm sure the managers at Harmonix only look at the bottom line.. Xbox sales are high, PS3 sales are low.. Why poor more money into the least profitable console.. Hense, we can't even get a simple patch working.. And we get comments like this:

The songs won't appear in the store if you've already downloaded them, so you will need to re-download them from your download list.

I'm sorry John, what I'm about to say will obviously be out of line, but I personally don't care anymore.. It's like you didn't even read his question.. He said he redownloaded the songs and it didn't work, when will it be fixed? You're response was to tell him that the only way to redownload it was to use the download list.. Huh?? What??? I think he knows that since he clearly said he redownloaded it.. And inbetween his post and your reply was two other posts (one other guy and I) also saying that we redownloaded it and it didn't work..

There was a bug initially that was preventing the songs from being visible on the PS3. We have since been notified that the issue was fixed and the songs are now visible to our QA guys.

Let me know if you are still having issues downloading the updated tracks.

It seems the same QA that verified the fixed patch was on PSN for the second (or is it third time now?) is the same guy the QA'd the faulty hardware and allowed PS3 owners assume the GH3 guitar works with RB? For some reason I have a picture in my head of a monkey sitting in a chair with two buttons in front of him.. One that says approved and another that says disapproved... I guess all the days we heard nothing is when he pressed disapproved.. Ok, yes. This is over the line, but like I said earlier, I don't care anymore..


Ohh well.. RB could have dominated GH3 on the PS3 if they would have just supported it a bit more.. But it's so late in the game, I can't imagine anything turning things around..

I'm not nearly as worked up as you or some of the people in that other thread. I don't think we PS3 users are necessarily "red-headed stepchildren." We might be more like the middle child. We're the Jan Brady of the RB community It's still a great game with great content, we just don't get as much as the 360 folks. But it's really not that much. The guitar issue will be fixed soon enough, which is all I really care about. In the grand scheme of things, I couldn't care less about having to tell some 13-year old with no DLC I'm playing with online that I don't want to play Dani California again, or that I can't find the Police under "Pop Rock." Now, if XBox had online BWT and we didn't, I would be pissed. But the rest of this stuff is just mildly annoying, and actually kind of entertaining when you start dissecting the larger pattern of neglect.

But a boycott? Meh. I love RB. I just wish I could have what Marcia has. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!
