Forty Six & 2, and H., are wayy better... Tool always has killer guitar and bass riffs, intense and powerful vocals and some insane drums... so just cause ur used to slow mellow stuff like pink floyd doesnt mean tool doesnt have brilliant music... how bout u listen to more than 30 seconds of one song before u judge whos better... i think tool is a way better rock band, but thats because i like tools style... i think pink floyd is extremely slow and puts me to sleep... money is probably the only song i like from them... every1 has different tastes in music... tool does not consist of fools, i like all ur name calling when u know nothing of the band... if u listened to even one songs lyrics u would realize they are far from fools and actually extremely intelligent... ive seen them sell millions of records... i hear u *****ing about them on a forum online... whos the fool?!
I'm sorry my friend, saying Tool is better than the Floyd is like saying that crap tastes good. Had it not been for Pink Floyd, then Tool wouldn't even have been conceived.

I personally think that, as far as modern prog. rock goes, that The Mars Volta is much better than Tool. TMV has been much more innovative than Tool in the fact that Tool uses so many King Crimson references it's as if they knocked on Robbert Fripp's door and asked for the compilations from Red and Discipline. Not that I think they're bad, I just don't really dig their stuff.

Pink Floyd WINS!! Pink Floyd is, hands down, one of the GREATEST bands in the world. Has anybody here ever seen the movie for "The Wall"? Wait, I'd better rephrase that. Has anybody here ever seen the movie for "The Wall", not stoned? The album itself is awesome, but the film is AMAZING. What other group, besides The Who, has ever proven their concept album is a good concept. Even when Roger Waters left Pink Floyd in the '80's, the band still played on. What other band has ever continued once the main songwriter left?

    LOL

Robert Fripp himself said that he doesn't hear Tool's "references" of his band...and that he is himself a Tool fan.

TMV is a solid band, but more noise != more "innovative."

And once again, it's like comparing apples to oranges, because TMV is a lot more experimental...it's really a different kind of prog than Tool. I think Tool explores darker and more groove based music, but in terms of being prog, it's the almost classical composition of their music. TMV is more prog because of the fact that they fuse so many genres of music together.

Also, Tool is a band that has transformed immensely from their early days when they were basically grunge metal to a more progressive / art rock style.

i think tool is one of if not the greatest band of all time (rage against the machine might be the only one better). but it all depends on when you were born. if you are older you like pink floyd better. if you are young like me you like tool better.

I started out as a Tool fan and have tried numerous times to listen to Pink Floyd, but for some reason I can't stand them!

Pink Floyd all the way. Yeah someone said earlier about listening to DSotM straight through. It's like reading a book.
