I've seen My Morning Jacket in concert and yes, they're a good band to see, although they can get a little "jammy" sometimes. But they do keep it to a minimum and if you don't mind jam bands, then they don't get much better.

    My SXSW concert recommendations:

Handsome Furs, Fri. March 14th at Bourbon Rocks Patio - not a great one for Rock Band but frontman Dan Boeckner's other group, Wolf Parade, would probably be great...he's like the Bruce Springsteen of indie rock, very passionate vocal delivery

Destroyer, Fri. March 14th at The Parish - Dan Bejar's band, he also does several songs on each of the New Pornographers' albums, you may have heard of them

Okkervil River, Sat. March 15th at Stubb's - and speaking of the New Pornographers, I'll be seeing this band open for them next month...their songs "For Real" and "Black" would make great DLC (if someone could link the videos that would be cool, I'm new here)

It looks like My Brightest Diamond will be there... sounds like a good choice to me. Female singers are always a good sell when i'm trying to get my girlfriend to sing.
Also, i'd second Okkervil River. I really like to see the diversity in Rock Band and it's a great way to have lesser known artists heard.

    Quartet with Bela Fleck

    The Black Keys

Body of War with Kimya Dawson, Serj Tankian, Tom Morello, Brett Dennen, Brendan James, RX Bandits, Ben Harper, Billy Bragg, and Special Guests

    Del The Funky Homosapien

Of the few that interest me.

Sadly, no The Faint, Mindless Self Indulgence or any of their Ilk.

    *Edit*
    Junkie XL
    Moby
The Presidents of The United States of America
    Shout Out Louds
    The Stills
    Saul Williams

    These all stood out.

My Morning Jacket IS NOT A JAM BAND!!!

Ask any of the hardcore MMJ fans and NONE of them will describe MMJ as a jam band. That's a lazy person's label for their music. If you actually listen to what people consider a "jam," then you will realize it is a structured part of the song and is ALWAYS played the same from show to show.

    MMJ - Run Thru

another PERFECT My Morning Jacket song for RB would be "Run Thru"....

check it out on You Tube (i would embed the video if i knew how).

the crazy middle section would be amazingly fun on drums and guitar.

and if any can sing as high as Jim James' falsetto then you sir are a master!

Bands you should try and check out (maybe they will inspire some DLC):
    Junior Brown
    Del the Funky Homosapien
    The Donnas
Talib Kweli (Mos Def and him are the best rappers out there)
    Lucero
    The Mothertruckers
    North Mississippi All-Stars
This Bike is a Pipe Bomb
    Was (not Was)
    Bobby Whitlock

sorry I know the list is a bit long, but they are bands you may never have seen.....if you haven't seen them, you should try checking them out.....all fantastic
