Why no Reel Big Fish?

I used half my Wish List points on the new Facebook Rock Band Dashboard app to request RBF. So now RBF has FIVE WHOLE POINTS.

So I know I joked about this a few weeks ago, but Reel Big Fish is doing VERY WELL in the Facebook Dashboard wish list voting. At the time of writing this post, they're #32. The highest I've seen them peak is #31, right behind The Beatles!

Because of all this, I feel now is the opportune time to push for Reel Big Fish DLC! Harmonix has said they've begun contacting bands that are high up on the wishlist, so for all I know, they could already be in contact with them. Also, RBF just re-recorded most of their hits for their "A Best of Us...For the Rest of Us" Anthology, there most likely isn't an issue with obtaining rights or unusable masters. The only thing MIGHT hold things up is they're currently on tour in Europe, but that wraps up this month. Also, RBF would add more tracks to the Reggae/Ska genre, which is currently taken up by 9 Bob Marley songs, and 1 Sublime With Rome track. Lastly, most songs would have keys (alt charting horns), awesome guitar lines, and harmony vocals.

Anyways, I'm kinda bored, so here's what I think would be an ideal RBF pack. I'm not gonna sell the band short and do a 3-pack, but I'm also not going to be totally unrealistic and do a whole album or a 12 pack ("Our Live Album is Better Than Your Live Album" WOULD be amazing full album DLC, though. Just throwing that out there). So I'm setting on 8 songs...which is still pretty unrealistic, but whatevs. I tried to stick to the later albums and re-records (the stuff RBF owns themselves), while still getting at least one track from each album. I was gonna provide links, but I actually can't find all of the re-records on YouTube :\

- Sell Out O - 1996 (2010)
- Beer OX - 1996 (2010) (newest Best of version has an organ part, so no alt charting horns)
- The Kids Don't Like It O - 1998 (2010)
- Where Have You Been? - 2002 (2010)

Thoughts? Songs you think would work better? I'm just hoping we finally get some Reel Big Fish DLC.

I hate to say it, but if Huey Lewis only gets a 3-pack, I don't think Reel Big Fish would get an 8-pack. I'd buy it though. A 3-pack with Sell Out, Beer and one other song would probably be more realistic. Unless the music game genre becomes popular again.

I'm well aware it's unrealistic, I said so in the last post. But making a big push for a band, then only posting 3 songs seems sort of counter productive, so I wanted to give a lot of examples.

Seriously though, if I HAD to pick a 3-pack, it would include Beer and Sellout, but then I'd feel weird picking 2 tracks off the same album, especially with a band like RBF who's had a ton of albums.

Don't Start a Band would be awesome, but I don't know if that would fit the overall theme of Rock Band.

Drinkin' is one of my favorites, but there's no re-record except the live version. Plus if it's not on the Best of, RBF's not that crazy about it.

Take On Me is too obvious, plus the original's already in Rock Band, even though the RBF version is considerably different.

If I had to pick a third track (besides Sell Out and Beer) I guess it would have to be Where Have You Been? or Don't Start a Band (even though WHYB isn't exactly a ska song). Those are just my favorites though.

Sliiiight update. First, Reel Big Fish is currently back at 31 on the Facebook app.

Second, in case you didn't hear the Livestream yesterday, while revealing the top 10 most requested singles from RockBand.com/Request, "Beer" by Reel Big Fish came in at #9! The song obviously has workable masters since it was previously released as DLC for PowerGig (but immediately removed). Still pushing for some RBF DLC.

Alright, Harmonix. Reel Big Fish's 7th album (8 if you count the cover album) is being released on Tuesday, July 31. DLC Tie-In announcement on Friday? Cool? Cool.

I'd still love to see some RBF. Nice list there tdc002. Other tunes I wouldn't kick outta bed: "Good Thing" (played at the end of my wedding), "Hungry Like the Wolf" and "Somebody Hates Me."
