You can always try to play some Hard Bass to bridge the gap and get used to that 5th fret button that way.

I am finding it difficult myself. I have figured out that moving up the controller is easier than moving down. Index finger should start on red button not green... then you have to teach your mind that middle finger is now yellow, not red... hard to do after playing for months. But, its easier to move your index between green and red then it is to move you little finger between blue and orange.
I am also finding that playing bass is helping me make the transition. Bass is usually more rhytm bases, thus you are not all over the fret board as much as with Guitar.
Other than that... keep trying like I am doing. I am getting in the 80-90 on bass now.

just keep trying and practicing and you will get the hang of it, trust me, the jump from Hard - Expert is what you should really be worried about. practice, practice, practice.

I did this to go from hard to expert, it helped me out a lot. After you play with all 5 buttons for a while, you wont have to move the whole hand while playing, with some of the easier songs you can just move a finger or 2.

Try playing Creep on Practice. That song in particular has enough movement between the five frets, but not incredibly difficult.

Practice, practice, practice.
One of the things I learned when making the transition was to initially position my hand so my index finger was on the red fret. That way, I wouldn't get thrown off by oranges and could shift my hand up to hit greens.
But it still took a good bit of work - keep at it, you will eventually get to the point where you can move your hand up and down automatically on the frets and your fingers will do most of the work for you.
Don't get frustrated, and don't give up. If I can do it, ANYONE can.

I'd say practice Say it Ain't So, In Bloom, Creep those songs are just easy for all difficultys.. also if you have it .. El Scorcho. I had a hard time transitioning from Medium to Hard awhile back I just kept playing the game and went to practice mode alot .. now I can play Green Grass and High Tides on Expert.. but I fail out at about 80%.

For me, I like to keep my index finger on red, and slide to green if necessary. during parts where orange isn't really in the riff though, and you can usually start to feel it out with practice, I go back to the green button for the index finger. My best advice would be pick a technique you think is best for you and just keep practicing. It seems like it's never going to happen, I used to think the same thing, but now I'm gold starring songs

For me the toughest was getting the "slide" down. Just pick 3 songs, and work em. Practice is key, but you'll get it sooner or later
