i listen to mostly classic rock. wolfmother is the only modern band i listen to with any regularly. their debut album is awesome, i like just about every song which is rare these days. ive seen them live and they can rock. theyre supposed to be releasing a new album soon, dont know when though.

What about The Hellacopters? And i agree with Priestess. And I'm in love with a band called Pride Tiger. I think they sound like Thin Lizzy.

Wow.. no mention of Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti? Incredibly lo-fi, sounds like it is stuck in a time loop from the days of 70's and 80's AM radio. Cool stuff...and often funny. I would go with the album "Before Today" or anything prior.

The Decemberists are pretty much a modern retelling of 1970s prog-folk.
