Yup, that's ONE guy. Not the band. Should I get into the other members' views, and also the licensing cluster**** that would come from having them all agree to royalties/album choices?

Yes, if you can get Richard and Syd's opinions on the matter, that would be nice. In the meantime, I'll go by Nick Mason. One of 2 members of Pink Floyd (1987) Ltd. Spokesman for the band and EMI Music this week. Quoted in a little blog called the BBC. Good night, troll.
(I should have known better than to feed the troll. And I'm pretty sure fhqwhgadshgnsdhjsdbkhsdabkfabkveybvf (her full name, she told Strong Bad she loves him) will reply to this, thinking she/he/it won, but I won't be checking the forums again for a while, so I won't see it anyway.)
To anyone else who might still be reading, and especially Harmonix or whoever their new lords and masters are since the sale, please contact EMI Music. Regardless of one user's opinion, obviously there's a lot of happy fans (and money) to be made.
What you want Pink Floyd. What you get Justin Bieber Myley Cyrus and maybe Frankie goes to hollywood and slipnots greatest hits
Slow Death
Isn't Roger Waters far more important to get permission from than Nick Mason?

My opinion? File Pink Floyd under the "Brain-Dead towards DLC Royalties" file, which includes other old-school morons like Prince, Jimmy Page and Apple Corps (grrrr...we'll never get to export our Beatles tracks, which in my opinion would take the Rock Band 3 experience to the next level).

Nick Mason said him and EMI would "consider it". I don't know what he entirely means by that, but Harmonix needs to act on these new re-issues of every Pink Floyd album. I don't think people realize how good of a dreamscape Harmonix can create for many Pink Floyd songs and albums. Especially since they use the typical 4 man front (guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards). You couldn't ask for a more perfect band.
The band members are the least problem at this point, unless they reunite to re-record
(take your time, I'll wait)
as the copyright holders for a medium (RB) not expressly forbidden by the original contract.
EMI Music Group owns the masters and their publishing rights, which are necessary for any reproductions of the recorded music. Strangely enough, today (10/5) is the last day Citicorp is receiving bids for ownership of EMI, having taken over the company as its major creditor.

One silver lining is the potential exercise of termination rights to recordings published in or after 1978, through which the publishing rights would revert (upon successful application) to the original artist after 35 years, which cracks open the door for RB:The Wall in a at least five years. (Pre-1978 recordings have only limited termination rights after 56 years, so. um, yeah.)

Issues regarding international law aside, the volatility in ownership of the rights holder will supersede any input from the band and any decisions will favor retaining value for the eventual purchasing entity. As much as I hoped (and so said in the prediction thread) the remastered catalog two weeks ago signaled an opportunity for Rock Band, in retropsect it appears to be a pure money grab on behalf of the existing rights holder before sale or dissolution of the publishing rights. Only a Godfather offer could pry the masters free.
