Default Simple fix for the tilt sensor problems.

Okay,We all know how much the tilt sensor's pretty much dont work on the strats.Im not going to sit here and write a 30 minute guide on how to do this,I like to keep it simple. It took me all of 10 minutes to do this...5 of that was opening the guitar.

Step 1. Open your guitar

Step 2. Find your tilt sensors *Refer to pics*

Step 3.Get all the glue that is holding them in place off,so you can unscrew the two screws.

Step 4. Lay the offending tilt sensor... on its side...as shown below.

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/4456/s4020591kj2.jpg

Step 5.Make sure you "Snap" the sensor into place,I have no glue or anything holding this in place,If you work with it you can get it to snap in place. But if you want you can tape it in if you want.

Tada...thats it,Enjoy your HOPEFULLY fixed tilt sensor. The guitar should tilt at about a 70 degree angle or so now.Its not SG perfect but its damn close.

Another angle of the finished fix.

Hope this helps

P.S : This will certainly void your warranty.

Excellent idea, I'll have to try it out.

But I'm not so sure it will void your warranty - you're doing nothing more than removing glue. If you really needed to RMA, you could just put the chip back in properly and I'm sure it would be fine. I don't think they have time to be opening things up and looking for "official" glue anyhow.

the glue's really only there to help them put everything together without the wires getting in the way. I hated it until i did my effects switch mod and I realised how much hassle it saves. Word to the wise though, epoxy is not necessarily a good alternative to hot glue...

yeah, no

effects button makes you break rhythm with your hand and, as such, is a bad idea

just like anything else, it takes practice...ive heard beginners say that tilting the guitar up and down also breaks your rhythm

and doing it for 20 secnods while the overdrive wont kick in also breaks your rhythm

i learned to use the select button effectively in about 40 minutes

Agreed, SELECT button is a good alternative, if you get a long held note/chord hit SELECT after you hit the note/chord, or a section where you have no notes/chords to play hover your finger near the SELECT button and then activate as you see the next note/chord come into view.

Or simply yell at your vocalist to hit your SELECT button - after all it's not like they do very much for most of the time - make them earn their keep!

when done correctly on a functioning tilt switch (which is what we're talking about) then the movement of lifting the guitar is natural and doesn't break flow at all

I know how easy it is to hit select, I've been doing it for weeks onmy busted strat, but the fact remains that as good as you get it will always be far more of a risk to your streak than tilting

not to mention that hitting the select button completely defeats the point of overdrive, which is why I'm hoping to find some tipover switches somewhere so I can fix the problem properly

My guitar's tilt sensor seems to be fine.

If anything, the BACK button has screwed me. While bending a note, the tremolo arm bashed the button very briefly and triggered an all-out Overdrive. More than once, might I add.

Besides, swinging the guitar skyward is more theatrical, ergo, better. You have little choice if a song has few held notes and relies more on keeping a constant stream of notes going.

Another alternative to glue is just repositioning one side of the sensor and taping it into place (which can easily be removed later) like I did in this post:
http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13523

Another important thing to note is if you are playing with the guitar already tilted and you earn enough OD power, it will not activate unless you tilt it back down and actively tilt it back up when it is available. I've seen this happen many times to the player's frustration and is most likely the cause of most of the "my tilt sensor is broken" posts.
