    Steppenwolf Poll

While a Canadian band, Steppenwolf has certainly carved out its place in American musical history and pop culture. Quite possibly the first 'Heavy metal' band (they did coin the term), songs like "Born to be Wild" came to define bad-ass motorcycle rebel persona, as well as reflect the stoner culture of the 60's in songs like "The Pusher." And who's never heard "Magic Carpet Ride"? By far one of the best bands to come out of the 60's, how many of you buy a Steppenwolf Pack made up of some of their hits?

    Some Steppenwolf Song Possibilities:
    "Born to be Wild"
    "Magic Carpet Ride"
    "Sookie Sookie"
    "The Pusher"
    "Rock Me"
    "Hey Lawdy Mama"
    "For Ladies Only"
    "Screaming Night Hog"
    "Jupiter's Child"
"Don't Step on the Grass Sam"
    and many others...
    Missing in action:

    Enter Sandman
    Battery
    Paranoid
    Let There Be Rock
    Anyway You Want It
    Give it Away
    Spoonman

    Bring them home HMX!

Music that I can rock out to is alright in my book no matter where they are from. Besides the fact that this is Steppenwolf and totally rock. HMX must be taking their time to make sure the charts and vocals are good before releasing this pack.

Would definitely go for any and all Steppenwolf! Not sure how John Kay would feel about the idea?

LOL I got so excited when I saw this, cause I was like "someone else likes SW enough to start a thread about it!" and then.. noticed it was MY thread from back when :P lol

As for John Kay, why? Has he mentioned any kind of anti-video game or anti-licensing sentiments?

It's just that from what I've read, he's very protective about his work-which is a good thing. If not mistaken, he even sued former Steppenwolf band members who tried to use the songs in their own bands-things of that nature. Irregardless, if some Steppenwolf showed up here-I'd be in hog heaven!

Magic Carpet Ride was done by Soundchoice in the karaoke world and all karaoke manufacturers I think are required to have atleast 5 discs with Born to be Wild on it. . .
I somehow don't see licensing to be an issue.

Just the same. . . Give me my Heavy Metal Thunder!!!

I say they need to add at least something from Steppenwolf. The '60's is not being fairly represented in the game.

They could at least give us "Born To Be Wild", "Magic Carpet Ride", and "The Pusher".

If Harmonix added more from the '60's, I think I could convince my dad to play the game (considering that is the music he listened to when he was my age). He would get a kick out of singing those three Steppenwolf songs in particular (and trust me, that would be a good and bad thing at the same time ).

And while we're on the topic of '60's rock, how about Harmonix get something from Three Dog Night as well.

(My knowledge of '60's rock comes from both my dad and my mom. )
