I've been doing my damnedest to forget. The only thing good that's come out if it is a decent insult.
Does anyone chart anymore? le sigh.

You assume, of course, that they haven't been doing this for years. Would explain a lot, really.

I'm more into the "art rock" side of prog than the actual prog side, so purists beware:

    1. Roxy Music
    2. Electric Light Orchestra
    3. The Tubes
    4. The Millenium
    5. Neu!
    6. Laurie Anderson
    7. Genesis
    8. Steely Dan
    9. The Decemberists
    10. Grizzly Bear

Looks like a bunch of crossover prog with some Krautrock, jazz fusion, and prog folk thrown in for good measure. Might not be the usual names, and definitely without much on the symphonic side (although some ELO and early Genesis would classify as such), but it's still in the progressive space.

Hmn, tough one to narrow down. Let's see.

    1 Gazpacho
    2 Marillion
    3 Opeth
    4 Pain of Salvation
    5 Ayreon
    6 Porcupine Tree
    7 IQ
    8 Stream of Passion
    9 Genesis
    10 Alan Parsons Project

Also, Soror, it's amazing how with this:

Besides, anyone who romanticizes Fish's time with Marillion should do themselves a favor and listen to his spotty post-Marillion discography. It's never as bad as Hogarth's team can go, but it also never reaches the heights that Marillion has reached since he left the band.

Did I mention they're not just my fave prog band, but overall fave band?
you've pretty much literally stated how I feel about Marillion. I still feel bummed out about having to miss this year's EU weekend even though I live about a half hour drive from the venue now.

I don't know if you have yet, but I strongly recommend checking out Gazpacho if you haven't done so. As their name implies, H Marillion has been a big influence on them (and they've opened for the band in Europe on several tours, which is how I discovered them), but they've really developed their own unique sound and with each album they're slowly knocking Marillion off their spot as my favorite band. If you're into concept albums and elaborate soundscapes, they're well worth a listen. Any one of their last three albums (Night, Desert Flight and Missa Atropos) would be a good starting point.

This is assuming Progressive Rock is a pretty broad term.

    Quella Vecchio Locanda
    Jethro Tull
Mother's of Invention (you know who)
    Van der Graaf Generator
    Gentle Giant
    Univers Zero
    King Crimson
    Harmonium
    Yezda Urfda
    Caravan

I guess they're all 70s prog, huh? I tend to subconsciously separate then from now, I suppose. Kind of a fluid list, and in no real order.
