    I don't think The Doors count as piano rock they mostly used organ.

    Some of the best piano mixed with Rock I've heard (in addition to the bands and genres listed above) has come from extreme metal (Black Metal, Death Metal, Prog. Metal, Viking Metal, Doom Metal, Symphonic Metal, etc...) as well as Goth Rock.

    Definitely agree with this, especially the last bit (in addition to the goth-inflected genres like darkwave and dream-pop). Type O Negative and Poisonblack have some of the best organ riffs out there.
