Sonic Youth was in the episode Homerpallooza

    Aerosmith was in Flaming Moe's

Red Hot Chili Peppers was in the episode Krusty Gets Kancelled

Ringo, George, and Paul were all in episodes, not John, so the Beatles were not

    Ringo in Brush With Greatness

    George in Homer's Barbershop Quartet

    Paul in Lisa the Vegetarian

note: the 3 bands that were in the Simpsons all performed
    RHCP played Give It Away
Sonic Youth played the Simpsons Theme Song (they also ate out of Peter Framptons cooler)
Aerosmith played Walk This Way (feat. Moe)

Homerpalloza is one of the few Simpsons episodes I've seen. Billy Corgan also appeared in that episode, if I recall correctly?

With that said, I had no idea the Simpsons were able to get a hold out of these great bands. I would have assumed George, Paul, and Ringo would have been near-impossible to get a voice-over from without the Simpson's creators dumping a substantial amount of money.

Buddy Holly formed in the 50's while the other 3 formed in the 60's. Even BOC, albiet Soft White Underbelly.

    Or, Deep Purple's first letter isn't B.

The three bands listed all have colors in their names while Buddy Holly obviously does not, or three are bands and one is an individual.
