Isis is definitely great. I love the Panopticon album. I've seen them live. Pretty relaxing stuff compared to the rest of the genre. They are a bit heavier live, though, which makes it more fun.

That's cool that you've seen them live. I missed my chance to see them the last time they were near me but I'd love to see 'em live. They've got some relaxing stuff too, first time I heard Oceanic it felt like I was in the ocean! Panopticon is definately great too, great follow up to Oceanic. Speaking of post-metal/sludge, have you heard Pelican? They're another favorite of mine and I actually got the chance to check them out live. Good band, has some very upbeat sounding songs. This one's one of my favorites.

Honestly i dont know how many people have heard of Duskfall, but that is one band that i think is relatively unknown that i listen to occasionally.
Also, Protest The Hero is another.

Black Metal band Graven and Jazz Fusion Death Metal band Sleep Terror. Sleep Terror is the best cuz you don't see the jazz comming.

    Salty Dog!

If you can find a copy of their only album, "Every Dog Has Its Day", most definitely grab it. Every song on it kicks ass.

Rumor regarding this vid from Wikipedia, for what it's worth:

"Rumours have it that Salty Dog were to have a video aired on MTV for the single "Come Along", until their A & R representative at Geffen Records (whom they had a dispute with) told the network that if they were to air the song he would withhold the next Guns N' Roses video. The video never aired and the band were dropped from Geffen shortly thereafter."

Name sounds familiar. Pretty good song there, might have to look more into them.
