    Needing a new "treadmill" game

    Hey All!

Being the good little video game addict that I am, I play while I'm on the treadmill. But I've completed Sims Bustin' Out more times than I care to count.

So... I'm in need of a new game, and I'm in dire need of suggestions. My "treadmill console" is the PS2.

    Games I've played and liked:
Harvest Moon series on Game Cube
    Sims Bustin' Out
Sims (was ok, but I prefer having the story mode as opposed to straight sandbox)
    Roller coaster Tycoon - PC
    The Movies - PC
    SimCity - PC
Buzz (not good for the treadmill tho)

    Games I've played and disliked:
    Metropolismania 2
    Harvest Moon PS2

Games that I just plain don't like:
    First person shooters
    Car Racing Games

    Whatcha got for me?
but Delia whistled a different tune...what tune could it be?

By "treadmill games" do you mean "terrible games"? You have the taste of a 10 year old girl.

    Barbie's Horse Adventures perhaps?

Actually my daughter is 9. But yes, we like the same games.

Hmm, this'll be tough since most of my PS2 games are action-y and probably not very playable on a treadmill, plus you seem to like a lot of simulation-esque games and those aren't really my forte.

There's Katamari Damacy, which is a strange little game where you basically have to roll this ball around and roll up a bunch of stuff to make it bigger. The synopsis sounds bad but it's pretty fun for a while. I don't think it's got a lot of replay value but lots of people love it. Here's a video of it:

    <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cwhFH75OCDs&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cwhFH75OCDs&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

I don't remember the controls being too crazy so it's probably playable on a treadmill, but don't quote me on that.

Also, there's a little rhythm game called Gitaroo-Man that I like a lot. There's "guitar-playing" sections where you hit notes with the "O" button and follow the pitch with the analog stick and then parts where you have to press the buttons at a certain time. It's kind of hard to explain but this video shows what I'm talking about. Might be a bit too intense to concentrate on playing while on the treadmill and it's a bit hard to get the hang of, but I think it's pretty solid.

There's also The Sims 2 on the PS2, which does have a story-mode but I'm not sure how in-depth any of this is since I haven't played it.

I'm not sure any of these are your cup of tea, but I'll try to post some more stuff up later if I think of anything.

    Thanks Frosty!

You're right about Gitaroo. I think that might require too much manual dexterity while on the treadmill.

As soon as I started the video for Katamari Damacy, Hubby looked over and said, "Hey, that's the roll-em-up game". Looks like we have a winner. Mindlessly addictive nonsense is perfect for the treadmill.

I had looked at Sims 2 as well. I'll probably pick them both up this weekend!

    Thanks a bunch!!

I have to second Katamari Damacy because it's a ridiculously fun game... It compelled me to try to start my own massive ball of stuff.

    I'd probably be like..

*stops running and flys off of treadmill and gets embedded into wall*

I used to watch movies, but most dramas are not conducive to treadmilling (is that a word???). Video games make the time fly by. I usually wind up going over my hour 1/2 because I "just want to do one last thing".

    Cool, hope you enjoy them!

I also agree that AZ should post up some pics.
