Thumbs down RB has *snicker* competition from Konami!

I couldn't even get that title written without laughing. Konami announced Rock Revolution today, to the excitement of...nobody. Both Joystiq and Giant Bomb reported that the game will feature the standard guitar/bass/drums, but no vocals! The drum kit is some 6-pad + bass pedal monstrocity. No word on the guitars yet (Konami was demoing with the Les Paul).

As for the soundtrack, there will be around 40 songs on the disk, with DLC planned. The songs include:

    Blitzkrieg Bop
    Magic Man
    Round and Round
    Sk8er Boi
    Walk
    We’re Not Gonna Take It
    Run to the Hills
    *** On Feel The Noize
    All the Small Things
    Spoonman
    Still of the Night
    Dr. Feelgood

That's right, you too can completely skip over the Avril Lavigne track alongside 2 of your friends en route to playing Spoonman!

This does beg the question to HMX: Where's the love for Pantera? RE. SPECT. Walk. Whaddya say!?

Seriously...Avril Lavigne? I'd have preferred a Five for Fighting Song. Or maybe Six Pence None The Richer. Or a kick to the junk.

Hrmmm... I sure hope this does not start a wild exclusivity war.

i saw the trailer for this, it looks so horrible, although Motley Crue, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Heart, Ratt and Whitesnake are awsome bands that need to be in Rock Band(I know Motley Crue is already in), this game is just a big ripoff and will sell nothing

Could care less about the game, but those songs! Walk, We're Not Gonna Take It, and best of all, Dr. Feelgood!? We need these songs!

See, the key is that Snickers always satisfies. That's why it's so good.

Awesome! Not only do I love competition, but Konami is known for making great games. How can you think this is going to suck? It's coming from the company that brought you Dance Dance Revolution, the Guitar Freaks, Drum Mania, Keyboard Mania, BeatMania and Metal Gear Solid.

Video of the game action HERE

Looks like a rip-off of BOTH GH and RB.

    Ohhh! I got FIVE HEARTS!
    My Top-5 DLC dream:

The Boys are Back in Town - Thin Lizzy
    Unchained - VanHalen
    Funk #49 - James Gang
    Slow Ride - Foghat
    Fire - Jimi Hendrix

I am affraid it's a bit too late for Konami to joint the party... Especially if all the instruments are incompatible... How many drum set and plastic guitars are those guys expecting us to have in our home?
