    Well... Its kinda hard to look into and and focus on the game at one time. 90% of the time when Im playing Guitar, I look bored, even though its fun. Now, If I know the song really well, I'll look like I'm having a blast. But then again, I won't do as well.

    as before stated this is probably the beta version so its gonna look crappy, but even with that being said, how many people with rock band perifs are gonna shell out 200 dollars for 50 to 60 new songs. I am apparently, judging by the message boards, in the minority in that my instruments all work fine and i actually prefer the strat to the les paul. If you want your drum kit to look as cool as this one just buy a couple of plastic cymbals and goto digitalcamo.com (i think) and buy the big bass drum attachment. as far as the five notes on drums, rb has five notes. what if that fifth note to the side, the orange one i'm guessing, is just the bass note. i didn't see any solid orage bars in that vid. I also couldn't tell if there were four drum pads or just 3. What if the cymbols are just for looks and don't even work.

    That all being said its still just to early to tell. I personally will be sticking with rock band since i have invested a small fortune in dlc. Another reason is that I like songs that are fun to play. GH2 was fun because i could fc almost every song on hard and a few on expert but it was not ******ed hard. GH3 on the other hand i had a hard time just five staring everything on hard. The difficulty increase was insane and that makes it alot less fun for most players while making it more fun for the very smaller community of hardcore gamers. Not to mention the fact that GH3 has been out longer than RB and has an unbelievably short and crappy dlc list. RB on the other hand gives us atleast 3 new song every week.

    Hands down winner ........ ROCK BAND

    and wasn't it hilarious when the host said, "It's called Rock Band I think." dude got owned.

    Why does anyone care so much about graphics???? I rather great chords and music, along with some awesome bands on a blank screen with nothing but the charts. No one is looking at the stupid figures in the background anyway.

    @carp

    I don't care (EDIT: much) about the background graphics. I mean the fret boards, notes, and effects. I think RB takes the cake and is way better in terms of that and gameplay.

    Ofcourse the actual songs, aswell as charting and such are the most important aspect. However the graphics are really important too, they add to the game, the fantastic animations and effects in rock band help make the expereince much greater than if it was just a blank screen with a note chart. So although graphics arent the most important thing, they are still very important in their own right.

    Ok, I have some simple questions to ask the lovely audience;

    What was the point of having Tony Hawk play?

    What was the point of having Paula Abdul judge?

    What was the point of showing almost no gameplay footage?

    The thing to view here folks is the lack of faith in Activision's faulty product. I'll explain.

    When Rock Band was first introduced 'live', the version of Rock Band that you saw was almost the finished product with a very small amount of bugs to work out. This is a feeble attempt by Activision to show their product in hopes of diverting potential Rock Band customers to GHWT.

    When Rock Band was introduced, they not only showed gameplay footage, but also how the menu screens, character creator, and selecting of difficulties worked. This showed that Rock Band was near completion at the time. In this video we see today, gameplay is shown for a split second, showing a lil bit of guitar, bass, and drum, but no vocals. Also, none of this character creator, guitar creator, or track creator was shown, the last being one of the biggest selling points Activision is trying to bring out. The gameplay footage did not convince me to rush out and preorder my copy of Guitar Hero: Rock Band...er, I mean, Guitar Hero: World Tour. I'm sure my feeling about not rushing out to buy this game based off of the gameplay footage shown is mutual with all of you here today.

    Then what was Activision trying to do exactly?

    In my honest opinion, I think Activision is tying to hype up their game through the use of celebrities (the evil way of doing it) instead of through gameplay and showing the product (the correct way of doing things). Activision is using celebrities who are saying how great this product is to make customers think the product is amazing. On the contrary, the whole 'let's put celebs in playing our game' actually turns me away from the product. What makes these guys so damn special that their opinion is better than anyone else's? They're still human beings, just with more air time than the rest.

    When Rock Band was first displayed in all it's glory, they had four average joes playing the game who were also helping to create the game. They knew about it and were very knowledgeable about it and when interviewed were able to tell even more about the product added on to everything that was shown in the gameplay videos. In the opposite spectrum, if you were to interview the celebrities about the game, they would most likely fumble around their words in a clear showing that they know nothing about the product but were most likely payed to be up on stage for 5 minutes an say 'Guitar Hero is great' and then walk off with their bag of money. But does any of this matter to Activision? No. All they need is a washed up celebrity and a handful of cash and they've got their advertisement.

    Oh boy! Paula Abdul thinks GHWT is great...cause, you know, she's definitely the leading source on the quality of video games!

    Wow! A coincidentally-placed Tony Hawk is playing GHWT! Good thing his field of expertise is in the video game industry instead of skateboarding!

    *sarcasm*

    The point I'm trying to get at here folks is this; Activision has nothing to show for itself at this point. There is not need for people to start picking sides in this war yet. Right now, it seems to me that there is only one true and able-bodied contender in this fight is Rock Band, and that's who I'm sticking with.

    Very very well said. I agree 100%

    Add me to the list...are we in the majority yet?

    I will not be spending $200 just so I can have an extra cymbal, what appears to be an awkward drum setup and the 50 over-charted GH songs. And if Activision is foolish enough to make GHWT incompatible with RB perifs, they'll cut out a huge market. Of course, I'm sure they are most likely relying on name recognition alone to make the sale. The American media has embraced the term "Guitar Hero" and promotes it often. That video shows how their rep was so blatantly trying to pawn off the whole band experience as a new Activision concept, which made it classic when the interviewer called him out on it by she naming Rock Band (first time you can play different instruments...nice try douche). I want to play a fun music game, and RB still fits that bill. Call me a fanboy, but when the rival company is churning out haggis like that (no offense to any Scots) I shan't partake.

    *Disclaimer: I will follow the development of this game and view it on its own merits, but my expectation is fairly low so far.
