Another cool thing about this adapter is the blue ping pong LED that lets you know what mode your in. Haven't tried Orange crush or RTTH with this baby yet,but the mode indicator will tell you if the yellow and red are swapped. It should be preprogrammed as well,so all you need to do is push a button and go! this is the coolest thing that has ever happened to RockBand(if you have PS3 and an e-kit lying around)period.
Hope I dont eat my words by saying too much too soon, but playing and shattering three different EL sets,I was considering giving up the game. But my wife is near the top on vox /PS3, and she loves to play nearly every night,so that wouldn't have been too easy either. But the random dropped notes etc. were very frustrating to say the least.
Drum controllers on PS3 use open standards? Who would've thought. There better be some GH compat.
SO I was looking at e-drums and saw this Roland Kit
Nice and compact. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with it. The size of the full kits worries me somewhat. Also will this one be expandable (e.g. adding mesh heads etc?
Thanks in advance all you experts!
EVERY kick pedal is spring-based. On the HD-1 pedal, you're pushing against the spring. On a regular kick pedal, you'll pulling against the spring.
Here's a Pearl Eliminator pedal:
And a Tama Iron Cobra:
See that big metal coil on the right side? Yeah...that's a spring.

I concur on the HD-1 - it's definitely not worth it compared to the TD-3. Check Craigslist for your area and you'll probably find a TD-3 set available somewhere close to that price, and the difference is huge. In addition to the much nicer kick pedal, the TD-3 toms are much nicer than these rubber pads (still rubber, but less squishy) and all of your pads will be upgradeable and expandable. Just the size difference alone will make the HD-1 feel like a toy compared to the more comfortably sized TD-3.
Just remember that the rubber pads arent going to measure up to the perks of mesh.If your not a real drummer, and just wanna RB set,
Consider all options first. Remember Craigslist and EBAY are your best friends in this situation as well.
Actually I thought it was previously mentioned that the biggest disadvantage with the HD-1 is that the Brain won't remap the midi outputs.
