I took one out and held it for a while. Was tempted to hook it up but my better judgement was with me and I put it back (my better judgement being the wrath of my wife!).
But wow!!! the qulity of these pads are amazing. I thought my snare drum was similar in construction but the PDX-8 is made mostly of plastic. The PD-85 seem to be a metal frame which makes them much heavier and more solid. I'm glad I went with these!!
Just finished the Endless Setlist on hard drums. I normally play expert but there are about 6 songs that I cannot finish. Since you can't change difficulty level once you start, I decided to just try it on hard. Getting through the first 60 songs was easy but then fatigue started setting in. When I hit Panic Attack, I almost had one of my own but I made it through on my third try. Only other song I failed was Ace of Spades but that was due to my wife yelling down to me to help with trash.
Seth, without your adaptor, I would never have done this because I would have destroyed the stock set by the time I reached the halfway point so I send my thanks again!!
I AM LEGEND!!!!!
Here comes another happy customer...Me! Loving Seth's adapter! Seriously good design here, somebody must have listened during his digital electronic class! Out of curiosity, are you using a microcontroller or a CPLD?
Anyway, beside the lag that apparently rockband 2 instruments introduced (only noticeable during fills), it feels so good to play on a proper drumkit. I have a TD6-KX (the one with mesh pads all around) with a KD-85 upgrade and all my hits are now registering(the red pad used to drive me mad on RTTH).
One thing I need to figure out is the blue note. I'm really thinking about using my left crash (CY-12) for it, my brains get confused too many times with the blue and green being inverted. Anybody else using this setup?
Also, how are you guys using the audio? Playing rockband to a stereo and muting the TD module? Using the mix-in of the module and muting the RB instrument (I don't even know if this is possible)? Just looking at a way to make the fills more enjoyable because I always have this sensation of the track slowing down and I miss the green crash quite often because of that.

Hey,
Can anyone tell me what this adapter does and if i need to mod my drums anymore with it and also how i get hold of one?
Thanks.
Dom
I Run my TD-12 to a Roland PM-10 and lower the in game drum sounds. I use V-Expressions sounds so I can use the proper drum kit for most songs in most cases with a turn of a knob.
I us this as my MIDI translator: http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103377
This is how I have it mapped out:
