    Hi!

Sorry about that. I just had a new baby here and I'm very behind on email -- I'm barely keeping up with my real job. I will get back to you, but if you must have something in the meantime, maybe the Madcatz adapter will work for you?

PS: Something is royally screwed up on the forums, because my real account ("sethmeisterg") always gets a "We rocked too hard" error message when I login and posting to the forums does NOT work (it wants me to sign in again when I hit the forums (and that sign in never works), so I had to create this second stupid username!).

    Thanks,

Okay thanks for the info, and that stupid sign in thing happens to me too, so I just sign out and sign back in with my email adress instead of my username and it works.

OK so I finally got RB3.. and I'm having a little problem with the yellow/blue hihats on my TD6V Roland kit.

I had this figured out before on RB2, I was able to map closed hihat to yellow, and open hihat to blue, but now with the "pro" mode I can't figure out what exactly is going on to get it to work.

When I run the same config I had for RB2, the open/closed hihat are equal to the yellow/blue drums.

If I just use a standard kit on my TD6V, the closed and the open hihat both seem to map the "yellow hihat" in the game.

So my guess is that in order to fix this, I would need to know what MIDI note # it expects for a "open hihat", or if its even that easy.. I'm assuming the "hi hat" pedal probably gives its own MIDI note # and the combination of the pedal + the hihat = open hihat.. in that case I don't know if there is anything that can be done..

Or other choice is if we can figure out what MIDI note it expects for closed hihat and open hihat (the manual says: 38, 40 for closed hihat, but nothing about open) I could attempt to alter my trigger strikes to output those MIDI #s.

But, since I have a TD6V, unless they just happen to be 6 values apart (since they are linked on TD6V) I think I may be screwed.

Only thing then would be for Seth to reprogram the firmware to instead of saying "hold the blue button and now strike the triggers you wish to be represented as blue" to having something like "hold the blue button, then press yellow if it is blue tom, or green if its blue cymbal".. adding complexity to the mapping, basically an incoming MIDI # translation to an outgoing MIDI #..

    sounds complicated.

There are no open or closed HH MIDI notes that are used during game play just 2 yellow and 2 blue. (1 Tom note an 1 cymbal note each)

My old RB2 setup works exactly the same in RB3, as you'd expect since it's basically programmed as a regular RB drum kit with cymbals.

The closed hi hat should be mapped to the yellow cymbal and the open one to the blue cymbal, simple as that.

Ah, so I'm guessing I just mapped my open/closed hihat to basic yellow/blue instead of yellow cymbal/blue cymbal..

I'll try to remap it when I get home.. I got my adapter in May/June '09 and that's when I messed with the mapping last. I know I just had to update the firmware.. I wonder if maybe I couldn't map to yellow/blue cymbals when I did this last time.. I'd be pretty dense to have missed it so blatantly

After looking at the instructions again (just downloaded newest version) it's very obvious you can map to either yellow/blue drum, or yellow/blue cymbal.

    Thanks guys

    Hi!

I have an FAQ in the FAQ section of the manual for the TD-9, but the TD-6 is a bit more challenging, because if I recall correctly (and correct me if I'm mistaken), the TD-6's MIDI note values for the open/closed hihat cannot be set, but you should still be able to map a pad to the open or closed hihat. I definitely need a better way of doing this mapping (since it can be error-prone, since it can be hard to know when you're stepping on the pedal if it's really "closed" -- listening to the audio output of the drum module should help there, but yea, I know it should be easier than it is -- sorry about that!).
