I didn't say they couldn't have millions of fans. I say the can't be mainstream - definition - a major or prevailing trend, as of thought, action, literature, or music. You know like the top 40.

And the 2nd best selling album in the world is metal. (Back In Black)

Also, Hair/Glam/Pop/Nu Metal was pretty mainstream.
Back in Black by AC/DC is hard rock not metal. Hair Bands are not Metal. Things that are over produced and commercialized is not metal. Heck back in black was used in a GAP commercial.

Why not? That's narrow-minded! Why do people fear the idea of their favorite band getting major airplay? You should be happy for the band!
Album wish list: Black Sabbath, Queen II, Static Age, Ride the Lightning, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

Your kidding right? Look I have sirius, so my favorite bands get all the airplay they need. What I'm saying is if it becomes popular music it can no longer be metal because are you listening? it then becomes Pop music. Example in the early eighties late seventies AC/DC was some badass stuff, then it became popular. Now they are used for marketing pants. I don't think, I could be wrong but I don't think the GAP is going to use Roots by Sepultura to sell me some cargos.

Not all Metallica fans hate Load/ReLoad, I am one of the biggest hardcore 'Tallica fans ever and i love both.. the reason they have so much hate is because the plain and simple truth is....NARROW-MINDEDNESS...sorry if im a little harsh but thats pretty much it... if its not really fast and heavy it's sellout metal....those are the "fan's" i hate
Mastodon and Alterbridge for Rock Band!

Biggest Metallica fan on the forums.

^^^There's one thing we agree on, Zidane!

And AC/DC is metal. I'm probably the only one here who says that, but they are metal.

So the second that a band gets major airplay that means that they are pop. That deserves to go on the stupidest things I've ever heard about music.
Album wish list: Black Sabbath, Queen II, Static Age, Ride the Lightning, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

No, I agree with you that AC/DC is metal. At least with Johnson. With Bon they were more bluesy.

I didn't say they were sellouts. I said they were pandering. Maybe it was the fear of failure after the huge success of the black album, but the those two albums were disappointing. St anger was better but still disappointing.
