The lineup in the Louisiana Gator Boys is amazing. Which makes me all the more incredulous to think they are cast in the movie as the backup band for Erikah Badu (or however you spell it). Of course, she's supposed to be some kind of voodoo queen or something, but still.

What I'm not sure many folks know is that the Rutles really started the whole mockrockumentary thing. All You Need is Cash was done in 1978, but they had shows on British TV in '75-'76 and appeared on SNL in '76. All You Need is Cash is loosely based around a Hard Day's Night. It's classic. Well worth a look if you haven't seen it.

Neil Innes did most of the music. If you're a Monty Python fan you'll recognize him from Monty Python and the Holy Grail -- he was the troubador who followed Sir Robin around and sang about "Brave, Brave Sir Robin."

My vote goes to the Rutles.

While The Gator Boys do have an impressive lineup, I would have to say that The Rutles win.

The Pre-Fab Four made an impression in the music world that changed rock music forever.

"All You Need Is Cash" is a way better film than "A Hard Day's Night". The Beatles were such posers.

Based on the music samples, I think I'll pick the Louisiana Gator Boys.
