Was anybody else disappointed that Rush didn't play Working Man tonight? Other than that the first half of the show was so, so. But after Peart did his thing on the drums the show picked up. Pretty kick ass afterwards....thoughts anybody??

I saw them at Red Rocks last Wednesday (06/25) from 6th row center. Absolutely awesome show, it's amazing how on top of their game these guys are considering their age and the complexity of the music they play. I was also lucky enough to get a pick from Lifeson, and my son caught one of the T-shirts they were throwing out into the crowd at the end of the show.
Rush very rarely varies their setlist on a given tour. During some tours, they have been known to substitute a song or two.
Working Man was last played on the R30 tour in 2004. It wasn't played during either the first (2007) or second (2008) legs of the S&A tour at all.
Only four songs in total were swapped between the first and second legs of the S&A tours, which disappointed a lot of hard core Rush fans. Big changes were expected by many for the 2nd leg, since it was really a completely separate tour.
I've been lucky enough to see every tour since Hemispheres in 1978, except for Counterparts (they didn't come to Colorado then, for reasons unknown). Myself, I was just happy to have the opportunity to see them again, along with the fact that they're still touring at all.
2008 S&A leg setlist:
"Limelight"
"Digital Man"
"Ghost of a Chance"
"Mission"
"Freewill"
"The Main Monkey Business"
"The Larger Bowl (A Pantoum)"
"Red Barchetta"
"The Trees"
"Between the Wheels"
"Dreamline"
Intermission
"Far Cry"
"Workin' Them Angels"
"Armor And Sword"
"Spindrift"
"The Way the Wind Blows"
"Subdivisions"
"Natural Science"
"Witch Hunt"
"Malignant Narcissism"
"Drum Solo"
"Hope"
"The Spirit of Radio"
"2112 (Overture/The Temples of Syrinx)"
"Tom Sawyer"
Encore:
"One Little Victory"
"A Passage to Bangkok"
"YYZ"
First half "so-so"? Um, I respectfully disagree.

I loved every second of it. There was almost a fight where I was sitting, because apparently some super-fans wouldn't sit down, and that upset the person behind them. The person who was behind them sure didn't mind using the F-word many times in front of his son (who looked to be like 9-10?).
buh
I think I was in the same section with the uberfans. What about the dude with the ponytail that got moved(or removed) by security cuz he starting flipping the people off behind him that was asking him to sit down. Oh, and those bikers. That uberfan was begging for a beatdown.
I didn't go. Riverport / Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre / Whatever they call it now is the worst concert venue I've ever had the misfortune of going to. I was there a few months ago for Radiohead. Great show from the lawn. Then it took us TWO HOURS to leave the damn parking lot, and hit the open road for the half hour drive home. It would have taken us longer if we had the audacity to take highway 70 on the way out but we at least understood how the page extension works.
Seeing shows there becomes a choice of 'leave before the show ends' or 'sit in traffic for hours'. So I boycott unless a must see show comes to town. Thankfully, I've seen Rush before so I didn't mind missing it.
Seeing them tommorow... well today since its 1:54 Am lol. And damn, working man was the 1 song id want them to do...
Thanks. The experience was certainly awesome, but what it makes me is bloody old.
Certainly no regrets though!
The Hemispheres tour itself still stands out in my mind, hands down, as the greatest concert I've ever seen. I saw it in a very small venue (about 3k seats) with nearly perfect acoustics, The Capitol Theatre in Passaic, NJ. Tons of great shows were held there but, sadly, it's since been demolished back in 1991.
Here was the setlist:
Anthem
A Passage to Bangkok
By-Tor and the Snow Dog
Xanadu
Something For Nothing
The Trees
Cygnus X-1
Hemispheres
Closer To The Heart
Circumstances
A Farewell to Kings
La Villa Strangiato
2112
Working Man
Drum Solo
Bastille Day
In The Mood
The highlight of the show was, of course, Cygnus X-1 directly into Hemispheres, both in their entirety.
For a taste of some of the bands who have performed at The Capitol, check this page:

EDIT: I stand corrected... Although the tour began in 1978, I actually found a site with the program for the show I attended, 01/17/1979:

Saw those guys in Chicago on both legs of the tour. Amazing! Is all I have to say. Great setlist, tons of new stuff (Gotta love S&A).
These guys are just the most amazing, most powerful, most real band ever. With the most loyal fan base i have ever seen.
GO RUSH!!!!
