Well, i didn't put a yes and there was a yes subsitute. i guess the don't care was as close as a no as i wanted to come. I know for me who bought guitar hero for the wii first not understanding it meant no downloadable song or owning a ps3. Once i understood that if i bought a ps3 or xbox360 i got to download more music, went out and got a ps3 and rock band. I thought wow i paid for the use of the song, I wish it could hear the song off rockband as well without having to repay for the licence.

It really sucked spending so much money on wii guitar hero stuff i no longer use. Rockband brings family and friends together.

I never gave much thought to not putting a no would upset people if i had i would have put a no. i had no clue it had been discussed. If it's extra cost i wouldn't want that. My thoughts were maybe they hadn't thought about it or didn't know people would like it. The whole buck discussion came about when the second response talked about the price being raised for that option.

When you purchase a DVD you don't expect a movie ticket to be enclosed, nor the other way around. You're not just paying for WHAT you're playing, but also HOW you're playing it.

except whenever you're buying something that's copyrighted, like a song or a game or a book, you're not really buying the song/game/book. You're buying the license and the means to access it.

This distinction matters, because when you buy a song on Rock Band it doesn't mean you're buying that song to use in any way you see fit, it means you're buying a license to use that song in Rock Band. An mp3 that you can take out of rock band and listen to would be a completely seperate license, (or at least it would require an extension of the current license for use in Rock Band), and the publishers of the music would ask for more payment as a result.

So sure, it would be good, but you wouldn't get it for the same price. Take it from someone who works in rights.

Personally I don't need the MP3. I can buy that somewhere else. I think that $1.99 for a way to play an awesome song is a steal. I can interact with my music in a way that I never could before. You can't beat that.

If you want free mp3s go drink some pepsi. They have a really cool promo going on all summer.

Coke also has a similar free mp3 thing going as well, partnered with Rhapsody's new DRM-free mp3 store (rather than Amazon). My fiancee is a Pepsi person and I'm hopelessly addicted to Coke Zero Between the two of us, we've gotten an absurd amount of (legal) free music lately And admittedly, a lot of it was stuff that's in RB or one of the GH games
