    Songs with good instrumental parts

I was listening to Vanilla Queen by Golden Earring and when the instrumental section in the middle came on, I started thinking about other songs with good instrumental bridges/codas and was wondering if other people knew some, because I think they're awesome especially if their structure/melody is totally different from the rest of the song, and if they have good instrumentation.

    2 others:

    Radar Love by Golden Earring
Layla by Derek and the Dominos

Awesome picks so far! Great thread topic OP!

Halo of Flies has one of my favorite instrumental parts to it. Nice long section of rythm driven quasi prog rock for an intro and again in the middle of the song. Killer drums , bass and guitar! Epic stuff IMO and my fave track of said artist. I still think this would be epic in RB as DLC. Man waht i wouldn't give to see this track in the game.

Many early Iron Maiden songs had great instrumental passages. They had a fairly standard song structure that consisted of verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-verse-chorus. The bridge almost always had a different tempo and key signature and they were all instrumental. My personal favorites are "Prowler", "Remember Tomorrow", "Drifter", and "Another Life". "Drifter"'s part isn't completely instrumental (some humming by Paul Di'Anno), but I say it counts.

Im just quoting a post I made on scorehero:

Iron Man by Black Sabbath would kill on drums.
Crazy Train by Ozzy for guitar.
    Amaranth by Nightwish for vox.

Jump/Panama/Hot for Teacher/Eruption by Van Halen: Would kill you on EVERYTHING.

Songs by Sting, The Police (who had Sting), Boston, Robert Plant, Led Zeppelin (Who had Robert Plant) Would also own on vox. Not to mention having Zeppelin would overall pwn the faces off every living person to ever hear their songs.

    Buckethead for guitar.
And Skynyrd - Most likely Free Bird.

The Moby Dick drum solo would Massacre you on drums, and the intro/outro guitar riff is real cool too. Vocals get a break. A 20 minute one. Lol.

Sympathy for the Devil - Rolling Stones. Awesome song, so it would translate into being a fun song to play as well.

Hotel California - The Eagles - Great song, not too hard on anything, but overall would be a pretty cool song to play.

Fire/All Along the Watchtower/Purple Haze/Castles Made of Sand/Little Wing - Jimi Hendrix Experience - I love the JHE. Fire and AATW have awesome drums, every song has awesome guitar. Also, trying to match Jimi's voice would prove challenging.

Maybe a DragonForce song, not cuz I like them, but to show off =)

Halo of Flies was really cool Axl, thanks for bringing that up. I love the bass/drums trade-off about around 5 min and thats a pretty cool intro.
And you're right that song would be killer on rock band.
Soul sacrifice is awesome too, I've got the woodstock version

Most of Frank Zapa's songs. Not counting the pure instrumentals, there's always Inca Roads. Willie the Pimp and Muffin Man, though those are much closer to instrumentals, seeing as only the first minute or so of each has vocals(Willie the Pimp more so). Still awesome.

Other than Zappa, there's always 21st Century Schizoid Man. Gotta love the instrumental section in the middle there(sorry, couldn't find a good video).
